Hello i am new here
Hi Hiba, and welcome. I’m sorry the inhalers aren’t helping. I have asthma and have followed great advice here. I do use a preventer inhaler about 20 mins before a run, and have a small glass of water which helps to moisten the throat. I do a speedy warm up walk, and wear a buff which covers nose and mouth and warms the air as it goes in. Also running very slowly to start, so your heart and lungs have a chance to get used to the fact you’re running. All of these things have helped me and kept the asthma at bay. Good luck and happy running.
Thanks a lot i will have to admit that I don’t think that i can even run 5K i think it’s impossible for me
Maybe you could if you build up to it gradually starting at maybe 1 mile and then next time doing 1 mile and a little bit more (i.e. 100 meters) and so on 🙂
Good suggestion 😊
One mile is a big ask to start off with isn't it?
Yes maybe, whaetever point you start from whether its 100 metres or 1 mile you still need to build up gradually 😊
Yes maybe, it depends on each person's ability. The point is to move from there gradually. 🙂
Welcome to the forum and C25K Hb2003, if you wish to run for 30 minutes, congratulations.Take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, drink plenty of water the day before you run and some before the run, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, good luck for your running journey with C25K 😊 🏃🏾.
Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
All the best with the plan! I don't have asthma myself but my sister does, and there's a doctor Patrick McKeown has breathing techniques on YouTube that seem to help a bit... Everyone is different though, so I don't know, but you could look and see! I hope you enjoy the plan... I'm starting week 6 tomorrow and kinda amazed to be this far and enjoying it too!
Have you gone through your medication with your GP?Explain you want to do C25K and might need to change your preventative inhaler. I moved up from brown to purple and it seems to be 200% better. Running has helped too!
