'Week' 7 complete, after a fashion

My last post was after Week 6 day 2, and the final interval run, around 11 days ago. Since then I've had a couple of stops and starts in getting the four 25-minute runs (W6D3, plus the three Week 7 sessions) ticked off.

First was the decision to go down to the local country park on a Sunday afternoon for one of the runs. Turns out everyone within the surrounding 20 miles had the same idea, and I couldn't run non-stop while trying to distance from all the family groups, and the mud being churned up by scooters and buggies... But I got W6D3, W7D1 and W7D2 done on the next three sessions.

Second stumbling block was a short-lived illness that put me out of running action for a day yesterday. But I bounced back quickly and decided I would get W7R3 done today during my lunch break...

...until everything went wrong at work and I was stuck on endless calls and emails and lost my lunch break entirely! Very stressful, and frustrating that my usual running slot was taken away. I nearly decided to bin it off for today and try again tomorrow. However I knew I'd feel much better having gone out, and not knowing if work tomorrow would end up being the same as it was today, I decided to stick to some well-lit pavements and just get it done.

As I thought, I feel much more relaxed and de-stressed. Running is therapy! Glad to have finished off Week 7, which felt very manageable and fun, and very excited to tackle Week 8 Day 1 on Thursday after a rest. Bring it on!

Running is therapy.....that’s great to read, that’s how I see it these days, if my day is a bit crappy I think to myself at least I’ve got my running. Well done on overcoming all those obstacles and continuing your C25k journey, good luck with week 8, I’m sure you’ll smash it 💪🏻🏃‍♀️

I worry about missing runs due to work commitments too and end up putting in bogus meetings in my diary! What do you do if you just can’t fit it into one week ie do 3 runs a week..... does it affect your running if you leave too long in between? Well done for getting to week 8, I can’t imagine doing that at the moment!!!

Hi Purr1, I started with a painful hip after wk4, rested a couple of weeks, redid wk4r3 when I was ready and now have 2\3 days rest between runs so am going over a week to complete each week but at wk7r2 and hardly any aches or pain so happy. Think its just a guide really but just do what you can. Seems like most people don't complete 5k in the 9 weeks either but its building up to 30mins and positive habits that counts 😀
