W7R2. Absolutely terrible run this evening

I just couldn't get into the rhythm of it this evening. I got into the disastrous headspace of counting down the run in 30 second blocks. Turns out that telling yourself "Three down, forty-seven to go!" isn't very motivating. Who knew πŸ€”?

For some reason Spotify stopped playing just as I started running, so I couldn't even distract myself with music, although it did come on again after about ten minutes. However, I was wearing a new sweatband on my head, and while it wasn't particularly tight, it did keep creeping up my head and threatening to ping off and one time when I was adjusting it I knocked one of my earbuds out. I was on the treadmill, so didn't stop, but my hearing in the other ear isn't the best, so it was just muffled bass from then on - goodness knows what I was listening to 🀣. It must have been at about this point that I took a swig from my water bottle and my body decided to inhale rather than swallow so, yeah, that helped!

But do you know what? I finished the run and - now that I've recovered - I feel absolutely fantastic. Finishing the runs when you are feeling good is easy, but finishing runs on a day like this needs determination. I can't say I'm looking forward to the next one, but at least I know I'll do it!

Wow that wasn’t a great run, but you can be proud you got through it, we all have tough runs and yes, we achieve more on those, easy comfortable runs are good too but getting through a tough run is brilliant

You can say you are looking forward to the next run because you know it’s going to be a hell of a lot better than this one... BUT the most important thing is you stuck with it despite all the little things that went wrong....you completed the run and you felt fantastic. I think you probably got to the stage in this one where you laughed and thought what next !! .....well done for being so determined πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘

Well done - even one of those incidents may have stopped some. One more run ticked off. I hope the next one goes smoothly for you.

BellaTheCook that sounded tough, we've all had or experienced similar runs, forget that one, the next will be so much better you'll surprise yourself πŸ‘πŸ‘

Loved your post, I was so with you, the non motivating mind think, clothing and equipment going all wrong, water everywhere but where it is meant to be, yep I have been there done that but I just try and keep the repeat performances to as low a number as possible. Next time at least one of those things probably won't happen :) and the run will feel better because of it.

Try long division in your head, that will distract you for sure.

You still did it though. Terrific! (Try outside for different things to watch/think about. I find that helps - though not so lovely n this weather..!)

Thanks. I do run outside occasionally, but have to drive out to do it now the evenings are dark (I live on a single track unlit road), so the treadmill is a godsend!

Just remember a bad run is better than no run at all, at least you’re doing it.

Feel like that all the time. Just a mind-set. I will finish no matter what. Anyway. Its not about me. Well done to you. πŸ˜€

Well done Bella! Some runs are just difficult.. some of mine seem to be tough, so I know where you are coming from!! I tried running in a snood thing, the other day and I got so hot! Next one for you will be so much better, and you still finished it and felt fantastic! Fab πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
