Hey everyone, I finally managed to get out this morning for my 5th consolidation run. ππ No running for the last 12 days as my ankle and toe niggles have needed resting. It has been very frustrating being on the injury bench again - hopefully my body will adapt as I loved being back out there today ππ
I tried to keep it steady and not push things too hard and although very tempted to run further and longer, stuck to the 30m. I covered 4.3k with a very steady - enjoyable even π¦ - 7m/km pace. I was really pleased with that as Iβve been worried my fitness was going to take a hit being off the running.
Again my niggles are niggling but Iβve stretched, showered, iced and balmed and theyβre feeling better.π€fingers crossed Iβm not too bad tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for posting - reading about your successes and journeys has kept my head in the game even though Iβve been off injured. Hopefully C6 will happen on schedule ππ¦π¦

Yay- nice to have you back Stone Dragon- full team Gazelle! π¦π¦Sound like you had a great return run - that was a good pace considering you were taking it easy- beats my distance at 30mins- I need to grow longer legs! Taking it steady and not pushing faster or further for a bit should see you get back into full fitness in no time- well done- enjoy the rest of your Sunday. ππ»π¦πββοΈ
Thanks Bambi - Iβve really missed running, so was really nice to get back to it! Sounds like nearly all the gang were out today and had really good runs π¦π¦π¦π Coach Dyre has been ripping me a new one for being a snowflake βοΈ so at least heβs off my back now! ππ
You have to remember that you werenβt running because you couldnβt be bothered -as the children in my class would say-β You had a poorlyβ π€ so Coach Dyer can do one for a bit π Follow the advice I give them- be brave, put a wet paper towel on it and it will all be fineπππ»
π¦π¦π¦Great to see youβre back in the reins (Iβm getting into the festive gazelle mode). I hope that the niggles can be managed successfully; hopefully just giving yourself extra rest days as needed should work.
Love the photo too: the range of ochres, umbers and gingers are so gorgeous, set off beautifully by the greens and distant mist. π
Haha! Tricks! My varifocals do something similar. Still. Really like the echoing curves of the path and water too. Canβt imagine you could filter that!
Thanks Peter - it was nice that it felt comfortable today and not too shabby a pace. π¦ I deliberately didnβt look at my pace during the run as I wanted to run by instinct and how comfortable I felt πhopefully if I can remain niggle free I can finally hit 5k and then work on getting a little quicker π
Yes, he's back! Good to see you back out there SD and that your niggles have been well rested. So important but so dull, we all feel your pain πThat is a very good pace considering you were taking it easy getting back into it and so encouraging you've clearly not lost any fitness during your time on the bench πͺπͺ
So good to be back R4UL - I really missed running (who am I? π) but Iβve been living it through my extended running family ππ¦
Itβs been strange, Iβve been getting up each morning hoping that it would finally be the day where my niggles were good enough for a run and then being gutted that I still had to wait!! I was especially gutted on those crisp and frosty mornings and I thought it wouldβve made for a beautiful run and some lovely photos πβοΈππ»
Wooo good to see another post from you StoneDragon, and to come back with a gazelle run too!! π¦π₯³ Fingers crossed your niggles recover okay and youβll be out on your next run sometime soon βΊοΈ
Really pleased you're back in the game, fab news. What a relief hey πππ. And that is a really good pace. Keep it steady to keep those niggles at bay. Enjoy your return ππ. π’ππ¦πββοΈπ
Thank you Buddhagal - I really miss it when I cant run. I'm feeling it a little today but not too bad - hopefully a couple of rest days and I can try for my C6 run on Wednesday π€ππ¦
Well done SD! Best to be safe with the niggles so sticking to 30 probably wise ππ» 4.3 is not bad at all either especially as you were taking it steady. Bit of confidence after testing out the injuries and you will be flying in for a sub 30 5k πͺπ»πͺπ»πͺπ»
Cheers Jericho - I'm not sure I'll ever get to sub 30m 5k. π² 6km/m seems so much faster than I run - and way more effort!! π¦π¦ I'll just be glad to run every few days without injury days inbetween to be honest π€
