You can do it. I am 5 years older and didnt do much in the way of sports at school other than swimming but that stopped at 14. Keep to the program and take it slow. I completed the course and did a couple of runs before the first lockdown and that was that. Started again today, ran with my wife this time so we are repeating it together. Good luck, the beer may slow you down but pogoing should counteract that. As far as the tattoos go, my daughter has loads and she runs for miles so I can only assume they help .
Hi Captain-Slow-54 ! I've already replied to your other message, so just wanted to say that you can definitely do this.
I've just turned 60, was the girl who was last to be picked for the team at school, and still can't believe how far I can now run. I'm fortunate to live in mid-mountain France, so lots of scope
Unfortunately the organic micro-brewery down the road is out of bounds due to lockdown, but I can pogo on the mini-trampoline in my bathroom. I'll have to pass on the tattoos though!
😅 Your country is home to many fine beers and for the last few months I have almost exclusively been listening to French punk bands. So many class acts, I can't wait to come back over to watch some more of them.
Tattoos, well..... Each to our own. It would be a boring world if we all liked the same things.
All worthy pursuits by the sound of it and now you can add running to the list, no need to take any off!!
Actually I find punk is generally great to run to - the beats per minute are high but there is the risk that you may end up singing and shouting along with the music (or that could just be me 😂😂😂)
Some of us here never did any sport at school either, myself included. My position in any team pick was "left behind". Before March this year I had never done any running other than for the occasional bus.
I'm also partial to the occasional decently brewed ale, and running has kept the inevitable spare tyre at bay.
Others have replied to your W6R1 post. I'll just add that rest days are vitally important. It's only on rest days that your muscles repair and strengthen themselves after they've been stressed by a run.
I'm a year older than yourself and a bit overweight. I recognise the beer and music description only too well.
I started in May and have really surprised myself - now running 2 or 3 times a week and sticking to at least 5k each time, I would not have believed how much I enjoy it,
Good luck with your own journey - I really hope you can find the same sort of enjoyment and self-belief that I have found.
