Hope all your runs have been going well! After taking a four day break from running due to feeling tired, a slight knee niggle and some hard going runs - I am back!
Headed out for a standard 30 minute run at lunch time. Just me, my music and runkeeper to track distance/pace etc (stats included in case anyone is interested). I had the usual tough โtoxicโ 10 minutes which also coincided with a steady incline which was quite challenging and the rest of the run was okay overall. There were a few moments where I felt good but nearer the end I somehow got out of my rhythm so was ready to stop once the 30 mins were up. But Iโm glad to be back out there running again!
Iโm thinking of making one of my three runs each week a 5k alongside two 30 min runs because so far Iโve only been consolidating time rather than distance and Iโd like to reach 5k again seeing as Iโve only reached it once. Will see how it goes! ๐ค
Have a good week everyone ๐๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ฆ

Thanks! Think my knee should be okay once I manage to get my gait analysis done, just waiting for lockdown to end โบ๏ธ Hope youโre having a good week.
๐๐ Good to see you're back out there LR. Looks like a decent run too ๐ช๐๐ฆ I got out for a early morning run again today - not brilliant but not too bad after Sunday's tough run.
I think your plan to add one longer run a week is a great idea - I was thinking of doing something similar (I've still not managed a 5k yet) and now I'm into the second consolidation week I'd like to try that on my 3rd run. ๐๐ค
Blimey, my eyes need testing, i read that as having had 4 weeks of running, and was thinking that's pretty good, straight in with a 30 min! ๐
Sounds like a good plan, doing one longer run, each week ๐ค, i've sort of done that, not planned, but it's nice to have a bit of mixing things up a bit now! ๐
Hey Laura, well done on your run and I'm glad your extended rest helped you. 4.50km in 30min is very good going, and with the inclines too! So close to that 5km.. good stuff ๐
I've had to give myself a couple of extra days rest since my Sunday run due to niggles I don't want to get any worse (inside thigh and knee..ugh). Planning on some good stretching tonight ahead of a strength training session tomorrow. Hope to get out for my run on Thurs morning, all being well. I want to try to get two 5kms in a week and improve on my times gradually. I am beginning to see my knee is not happy with 3 runs a week even though I want to do 3 ๐ Damn knee!!!
The inclines really do me in ๐ I get so out of breath going up them even though it feels like Iโm barely moving...
I definitely think a few extra days rest are a good idea, especially since weโre all fairly new to running for 30 mins three times a week. I think I may only end up doing two runs this week - trying not to put pressure on myself. And like you say, definitely better to rest a niggle than it turn into a full on injury! Good luck for your run on Thursday ๐ค๐ผ
I think my knee niggle is down to not having gait analysis done and โproperโ trainers so Iโm going to try and get that sorted once lockdown is over.
Yes, you may well find your knee settles once youโve had your gait analysis done and the right trainers help SO much. However, per my physio itโs regular foam rolling to keep the ITB in check and not too tight. Itโs when you have a tight ITB and it โpullsโ on your knee, it can feel like a knee niggle that really just needs rolling out! I need to take my own advice and get on the foam roller while I watch Bake Off ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Welcome back Laura, we missed you!! Sounds like youโve come back strong-4.5k in 30mins. Iโve been doing 2x 30mins during the week where I manage about 4.1k and then do 1 weekend one at 5k which takes me about 36-38mins. Thatโs seems to work ok for me at the minute. Team Gazelle are still trotting along nicely ๐ฆ๐ฆ
Thanks Bambi! Itโs good to be back โบ๏ธ 5k in 36-38mins is good going - well done you!! Think I might try a 5k this weekend ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ Team gazelle are sticking at it and have kept running through the โmehโ runs, proud of us all!! โจ
I know, weโre getting good - I came home from work tonight and went straight out to do my run- I can now settle down with a cup of tea and biscuit and watch Bake Off with a guilt free conscience!
