Hi all,

Hope all your runs have been going well! After taking a four day break from running due to feeling tired, a slight knee niggle and some hard going runs - I am back!

Headed out for a standard 30 minute run at lunch time. Just me, my music and runkeeper to track distance/pace etc (stats included in case anyone is interested). I had the usual tough โ€˜toxicโ€™ 10 minutes which also coincided with a steady incline which was quite challenging and the rest of the run was okay overall. There were a few moments where I felt good but nearer the end I somehow got out of my rhythm so was ready to stop once the 30 mins were up. But Iโ€™m glad to be back out there running again!

Iโ€™m thinking of making one of my three runs each week a 5k alongside two 30 min runs because so far Iโ€™ve only been consolidating time rather than distance and Iโ€™d like to reach 5k again seeing as Iโ€™ve only reached it once. Will see how it goes! ๐Ÿค”

Have a good week everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸฆŒ

Thanks! Think my knee should be okay once I manage to get my gait analysis done, just waiting for lockdown to end โ˜บ๏ธ Hope youโ€™re having a good week.

๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ Good to see you're back out there LR. Looks like a decent run too ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘๐ŸฆŒ I got out for a early morning run again today - not brilliant but not too bad after Sunday's tough run.

I think your plan to add one longer run a week is a great idea - I was thinking of doing something similar (I've still not managed a 5k yet) and now I'm into the second consolidation week I'd like to try that on my 3rd run. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿคž

Itโ€™s good to be back! ๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Feel like mediocre runs are better than โ€˜mehโ€™/bad ones but hopefully some good runs are on the cards soon. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

Ah fab! Glad that Iโ€™m thinking along the right lines, might try a 5k at the weekend. Good luck for yours, youโ€™ll hit that 5k soon Iโ€™m sure!!

Blimey, my eyes need testing, i read that as having had 4 weeks of running, and was thinking that's pretty good, straight in with a 30 min! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sounds like a good plan, doing one longer run, each week ๐Ÿค”, i've sort of done that, not planned, but it's nice to have a bit of mixing things up a bit now! ๐Ÿ˜€

Ahah nope, that would be absurd!!๐Ÿ˜‚

Yeah want to have a bit of variation so I donโ€™t feel static with my progress, think Iโ€™ll try a 5k at the weekend โ˜บ๏ธ

Hey Laura, well done on your run and I'm glad your extended rest helped you. 4.50km in 30min is very good going, and with the inclines too! So close to that 5km.. good stuff ๐Ÿ˜€

I've had to give myself a couple of extra days rest since my Sunday run due to niggles I don't want to get any worse (inside thigh and knee..ugh). Planning on some good stretching tonight ahead of a strength training session tomorrow. Hope to get out for my run on Thurs morning, all being well. I want to try to get two 5kms in a week and improve on my times gradually. I am beginning to see my knee is not happy with 3 runs a week even though I want to do 3 ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ Damn knee!!!

The inclines really do me in ๐Ÿ˜‚ I get so out of breath going up them even though it feels like Iโ€™m barely moving...

I definitely think a few extra days rest are a good idea, especially since weโ€™re all fairly new to running for 30 mins three times a week. I think I may only end up doing two runs this week - trying not to put pressure on myself. And like you say, definitely better to rest a niggle than it turn into a full on injury! Good luck for your run on Thursday ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

I think my knee niggle is down to not having gait analysis done and โ€˜properโ€™ trainers so Iโ€™m going to try and get that sorted once lockdown is over.

Yes, you may well find your knee settles once youโ€™ve had your gait analysis done and the right trainers help SO much. However, per my physio itโ€™s regular foam rolling to keep the ITB in check and not too tight. Itโ€™s when you have a tight ITB and it โ€œpullsโ€ on your knee, it can feel like a knee niggle that really just needs rolling out! I need to take my own advice and get on the foam roller while I watch Bake Off ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Welcome back Laura, we missed you!! Sounds like youโ€™ve come back strong-4.5k in 30mins. Iโ€™ve been doing 2x 30mins during the week where I manage about 4.1k and then do 1 weekend one at 5k which takes me about 36-38mins. Thatโ€™s seems to work ok for me at the minute. Team Gazelle are still trotting along nicely ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ

I know, weโ€™re getting good - I came home from work tonight and went straight out to do my run- I can now settle down with a cup of tea and biscuit and watch Bake Off with a guilt free conscience!
