I just started this week, I’m not a small girl - I eat well but my body seems to hold on to the bad things 😂 and I need to get fit and lose weight! I know C25K is mainly for fitness but has anyone seen a good weight loss after the 9 weeks? If so, how much? Thank you 😊 x

Well done for starting! I’m not a small woman either.
I have 4 stone to lose and so far I’ve lost 3lbs In week 2.
I am currently on week 2 run 3 and it’s the starting that was the hardest part for me. I haven’t lost loads in the grand scheme of things but that’s probably because I over treated myself at the weekend for getting off the couch in the first place ...oops. Learnt my lesson and this week I decided to eat clean mon-fri and keep off the wine until the weekend (in moderation) which is why I think I’ve lost 3lbs already mid week
I have a toddler and 13 week old so it’s a massive achievement just to get out the house and run three time’s a week.

I appreciate your reply, it helps a lot - I had a few mixed messages from people and their opinion on weight loss and apparently the C25K wasn’t the way so that helps me a lot. Thank you x and well done on getting out of the house! My partner is doing this with me as support so we do it together x
Yeah I read similar comments and I can see where there are coming from because in the early weeks it's only 8-12 minutes of running and it's your not likely to burn much more than 300 calories (depending on your height and weight). However, I spoke to my doctor and a personal trainer friend about it and they said that although it may not be the best solution for rapid weight loss it will help slowly increase stamina for longer, faster runs, help with fitness, and in turn help me loose the lard. I've just come back from W2 Run 2 (did run 2 twice) and I feel like I could have definitely gone faster and for longer this time. I didn't as I'm following the rules so as not to be at risk of pulling muscles, injury etc.
Essentially, if we are in a calorie deficit and running is helping to put us in that calorie deficit then of course we will lose weight so you do you. I didn't lose a single lb last week because although I ran and got off the couch, I still put more food and booze in me than I was able to burn.
Good luck for the rest of week, we will lose the lard!
Completely makes sense really! I’m trying to stay off the booze and I’m following a calorie controlled diet so I hope it will help me lose some weight and improve my fitness in the mean time! I’ve enjoyed my first week but I will be honest, it was easier the more I did it. So I think I’ll repeat week 1 again. Thanks for the boost! Happy lard burning to us 🔥 x
Hi Kimmy. I graduated at the end of August after completing C25K in the prescribed 9 week timeframe. I still run every other day (or thereabouts) and I have lost 7lbs in total. Seems a minimal loss if you look at that in isolation but I feel trimmer, I am definitely more toned and other people can see a difference.
I’m sharing this because it’s wise not to get hung up on the numbers whether that’s weight loss, pace or distance. The program is life-changing because of how it makes you feel both physically and about yourself.
Keep up the good work and be prepared because, I’m warning you, it’s addictive 😂😉

I am slightly addicted already, it makes me feel fresh and it’s the first time I’ve exercised in 5/6 years so I’m happy I’m doing something about my fitness! Xx
It is transformative, it really is. Graduating changed my view of myself - I can give up easily if things are too challenging but I stuck with this and graduating made me realise that I am “a trier” and that I have more grit than I knew. I hadn’t run for decades and hadn’t been swimming seriously for about 5 years so it really was a challenge and I rose to that challenge.
I’ve been out in the rain this morning and done my fastest 5k (still at a snails pace) and I am high as a kite. I hope you get the same thrill that I do from sticking with this and carrying on after you graduate. 😊😊
I would take measurements now as the biggest change I noticed is in my size. I didn’t do this to lose weight and 3 years on, I weigh pretty much the same but I take up a lot less space!
