CR6 I just kept on running

It had been a few days since my last run, the knee was playing on my mind. Slept in and missed my usual morning spot before everybody else gets up, so had to trudge to the park in my full running gear in broad daylight, hundreds of cars etc.. Stuff that would have made me not go a few months back!

Once I was in the park I got to running, felt OK, slow but OK! There were lots of other people in park today and I found myself weaving between fellow runners and dog walkers trying to cheerfully greet anyone who met my eye 🀣 some of the joggers didn't have time for good mornings they had serious running to do 🀣 I plodded on, entertaining myself guessing if each runner was new or even a c25ker. Before I knew it I'd done a lap and a half and then I spied him... A guy that looked like he was built to run! Tall, skinny, only wearing short shorts and a t-shirt in November! Huge long stride, looked like he was gliding over the pavement!

"I'm going to catch him" I looked around to see what idiot had said that and quickly realised it was this idiot! 🀣 I gained a little but knew I was running out of time if I stuck to my run, never mind I thought, get to usual finish line and see how you feel... So I gets there and check time (still running) I'd JUST squeaked 5k in 30 mins...felt OK so decided to keep going. Checked on the guy in front and I was catching him! Took me until the next hill to realise why... He walked each time he reached a slope! Aaaaahahahaha super runner I thought! Here's my chance, I knew there was 3 slopes due so I powered on, I got closer and closer and then I came to a fork in the road and decided as he went right that I'd go left. I'd like to say it was because the chase was what was important and not the winning... But I was just bloody tired 🀣🀣🀣 I looked at phone and spotted that I was on for 4 miles and could possibly do it in 40 minutes! That then became my target, the last half mile was tough as hell but I've become slightly mule like in my stubbornness when it comes to running and I hit just enough pace to complete an entire 4 miles in under 40 minutes! I was very pleased with myself and deffinately the most tired I've been whilst running! Also like I've hit another mikestone/target without really setting out to do it today 🀣

Enough running rambling 🀣 good luck to everybody running today. May it be a gazelle like run for all! 🦌(a festive gazelleπŸ˜‚)

Wow Jericho, sounds like you were flying this morning! I guess that knee niggle didn't hold you back πŸ˜‰So funny when you see a 'natural runner' type, it does something to that competitive spirit doesn't it? I was the same on Sat when I was overtaken by a much younger and sleeker runner.. But, please do be careful.. As I am sure more experienced runners will say, newbie runners as we are can be prone to overdoing it when we think we can conquer the world and end up on the injury couch. We can't afford to have any members of 'Team Gazelle' out with injury!!!!!

In any event, you can be downright chuffed with your performance this morning, 4 miles! Ace πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ‘πŸ»

Thank you, yeah the knee behaved itself until about the last half mile and then it hurt but I was determined to finish by that point. Very quickly stopped hurting once I slowed to a walk so I think it is literally just the years of not being used πŸ˜‚ as I tend to get further each time before it starts to hurt. Hopefully building up the strength in the knee by actually using it is doing the trick, also bought some resistance bands today so gonna start doing some strength work with those on my non run days. 🀞🏻 It sorts out whatever the issue is.

Did you have 3 weetabix today? 4 miles- that’s 6.4km!!!! Mo Farah has just rang and said he wants his trainers back! Great endurance for being able to run that far- the gazelle were galloping away today!! 🦌 🦌 Be careful you don’t injure yourself though- we don’t want to be a man down - we need to hear the next marathon running adventure πŸ™‚

I have three weetabix with a banana on top every day πŸ˜‚ only after my run though, I like to run before I eat or drink.

Wasn't aiming to do anymore than 30 mins this morning but just got a bit competitive and decided to go for it πŸ˜‚

You are both correct about the injuries though, last thing I want is time off from running πŸ‘πŸ»

Team Gazzelle fit and running well is what we need! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻

Well now you’re just showing off!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

........ Ah I’m only jealous, and what’s this about Team Gazzelle? I’m starting my own team it’ll be Team Sloth.

I didn’t post but I managed to get out myself yesterday, I managed 2.3miles in 28mins so there’s not much competition from me and it’s still taking me about 12mins/mile but I know it’s not a race and I’m determined not injure myself again.

Go Team Sloth! πŸ¦₯πŸ˜‚

Ah that's good that you got out! It sounds like you've been really busy lately plus the injury situation, understandable that your not out as often lately! I'd still post though, I've been keeping my eye out for yours just to check your not injured and havnt given up! Thought I was gonna have to jog up your way and force your trainers on πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Team Gazzelle haha its more a state of mind than a pace thing I'd say! Happy smooth runs with no issues are what I'd say most count as a Gazzelle run, a few of those under your belt and you will feel more team Gazzelle πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻🦌(this is a festive gazelle not a reindeer πŸ˜‚).

28 min run so your just getting ready for week 9? Keep running and keep posting, I like to keep an eye on everyone who started at similar times and we've had a good few graduate over last couple weeks, you will be there soon too πŸ‘πŸ»
