only just made it, was very sluggish on this run and went so slow i feared i might stop altogether in motion... but i did it! yes! mark that one up with a big tick and go for the next one which technically i know i can do, as i have done monday and wednesday but humans are not just about technique are they? (one nightmare though....haha... right at the start my music stopped, no idea why... so maybe that's why it was so hard...no music at all just the sound of my paces on a cold surface...) i can't believe i did it again...i ran for 9 minutes today i think, albeit with walking breaks... it so amazes me that i begin to believe all sorts of other foreign to me things like one day i might enjoy it... lol

Begin to believe. 👍

oh if i didn't believe in myself i wouldn't have got this far, trust me, as i say, i believe in my mind as it is very strong but can my body hold out for three whole minutes? i am the type that would kill themselves (not literally) trying cos the mind is so powerful... lol

i love that 'begin to believe' like a deep voice from out of nowhere or one of those motivational film clips... fab!

It's just the sort of trailer that Don LaFontaine would do.

i would so so love to enjoy this, even just a bit of it, but being exhausted and dying for it to end and being in discomfort (albeit mild) is just not enjoyable to me. if it were i would be having a whale of a time! woop woop! afterwards i am relieved and thrilled it's over but that's not the same as enjoying the running is it?

Well done - enjoyment or not, it excellent progreSs. I did the same run myself today xx

changing-woman profile image
changing-womanGraduate in reply to Oliverunner

do you enjoy it?

Oliverunner profile image
Oliverunner in reply to changing-woman

Well, the interesting thing is that that the second time around I’m really enjoying it. The first time was sheet torture and willpower. It makes me wonder if for

Some people a slower pace would be better x

oh that's me, snail extraordinaire...but still no enjoyment x well done you for doing it a second time round, i call that BRAVE oliver :-)

If it means anything I think most people find the first weeks the least enjoyable - but as you progress it does become far more enjoyable. I remember my first couple of weeks and for sure the pain cancelled out any good feelings I had eek, but for sure there came a time (probably second half of C25k) where I began to enjoy it... skip to 4 months post C25k and I love running!! literally I’m always so happy on a run :)

For now just getting through the weeks and workouts is the goal!!

Well done, you did it! It doesn’t matter how well you think you did, you did it and that’s all that counts👍

You’re probably surprising yourself every time you get out there. That’s the way this program is designed and your confidence will increase as you progress.🙂

Just believe in yourself and the program, and the support you’ll get on here of course!😊

Well done DTC. That’s the attitude that will get you through the program! Don’t worry about anything else, just believe in yourself. You can do this!🙂👍

ps. one of my 90secs runs seemed to go on for about 17 minutes, i'm sure it did lol

David_G in reply to changing-woman

Yes, I recognise that feeling too!🤣

When it restarts, you might want to think about Parkrun🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ You’ll find it on Google or wherever. You can walk, run or a combination of both. No-one will judge you and everyone will support you and cheer you on👏👏. You just need to register once and it’s all free. I love it! 😊

OMG in week 3 you are literally doubling your running time! eek. from 90secs to 3 minutes.

changing-woman profile image
changing-womanGraduate in reply to changing-woman

how does anyone ever achieve that unless they are really fit?

changing-woman profile image
changing-womanGraduate in reply to changing-woman

which i am not, but- she says with enormous pride- i am fitter than i was two weeks ago. oh yeah BABY! soak THAT up!

Don’t worry about it, just trust the program. It’s worked for so many of us🙂👍

Make sure you hydrate💦 though, even in this cold weather. It’ll help your muscles to cope with the extra exertion you’re asking them to go through😊💪👍

changing-woman profile image
changing-womanGraduate in reply to David_G

ok. yes it's very hard for me to trust something that isn't me. so i must work on that. thanks for the reminder.

Brilliant! Well done - and without music as well! 👍 I hate it when I have a technical hitch and have to run without my music. 😩 You're right - taking on something like this programme can feel very empowering too! 💪

Good luck with Run 3!🙂

You are doing so well! You are also starting to believe you can do it! That's great!

Sometimes, running without music can give you space to concentrate on your breathing or how you're feeling and so can be good. My headphones ran out of battery game at through a very long run I did last week, but actually the second half of the run felt better! That said, I used music all the way through cto5k

Congratulations!

changing-woman profile image
changing-womanGraduate in reply to Bambi2020

goodness KNOWS how the 3 minute run will be managed. i cannot imagine myself running longer than today ever. on the first run i was knackered. truly. i just pushed and pushed and pushed. either i can't be as unfit as i thought i was, which would be great, or i have really improved on this programme, which is great. it's a win-win!

Bambi2020 profile image
