So frustrated!

At the beginning of week 8 I fell down a pot hole. I really hurt my ankle, hands, elbow, wrist, knee... I carried on and finished week 9 and felt more proud of this than anything I can remember! Anyway, my wrist still hurt so got an x-ray which showed a couple of fractures so now in a plaster cast for who knows how long. Told not to run as not allowed to get cast damp / sweaty or it will go soggy. I'm so worried I will lose all the fitness I have worked so hard for.

It is tough when you have to stop running, but you don't lose fitness quickly.

As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

After that loss of condition is gradual.

All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out and see what we can comfortably manage, then build back up gently, using C25k or something similar as a guide to weekly increase.

That sounds horrific, poor you! AmazIng effort to crack on and finish the programme 🤩

On the bright side it’s good that you have an answer about your painful wrist and it’s now on the mend in the cast 👍🏼 Have you been given a time frame for how long it will stay on?

Perhaps you can keep up some fast/intense walking to help with frustration at least? Any kind of exercise will be good for your mind. Cling film on the cast on rainy days perhaps?
