Well, thank you Pointer Sisters for coming on my playlist just at the right moment this morning as I ran in the last run of Week 8. Really got me going! A good run this morning down on the Sussex coast, I was out by 7am and running along by the sea with the wind behind me happy with life. Nothing that an over enthusiastic friendly dog chasing and jumping up at me could stop (ggrr) nor a giant split in my new leggings could stop 😳 (thankfully at the top of my leg but still, really!?)..

That was all in the first 10mins, after that I settled in and I was conscious of upping my pace a bit to see how I’d get on.. pretty damn good it turns out!! A PB for me this morning of 10.44/mile and distance run 4.22km in 28mins. Very pleased with that and a foundation to keep building on.

So it’s now onto Week 9 and the last week of my C25K plan 😃 Thanks to all the amazing support on this wonderful forum and reading everyone else’s journeys, it’s really kept me going. For the first time in my life, I feel confident I can run for a continuous 28mins without needing to stop and if any of those gremlins pop up mid run, I just bat then away now as I KNOW I can do it, so why stop?

Happy running today everyone 💪🏼

Congrats on completing week 8! The end is in sight now ☺️ Also what a lovely view, I am always jealous of people who live by the coast and can run by the sea!! Maybe I’ll take my trainers with me next time I head to a beach on my hols haha. Here’s to moving onto the final week 🥳

Thanks!! We're visiting family on the coast so a run by the sea was definitely on my radar this morning before we head back to our (land-locked) home tonight. It was so nice to have a change of scene and to run along so close to the crashing waves. When is your next run? Are you now on Week 9, too?

Ahh I can relate to the land locked situation, but still a lovely experience for you anyway!! I just did Week 9 Run 1 tonight and can’t believe I’ve only got two runs left 😱

Hey R4UL - that was quite some run for your final run of week 8 💪 well done. You’re getting stronger and fitter with that pace 👍

Beautiful photo too - just like LR I’m also jealous. Must be really uplifting to run along the seafront (although very weather permitting I’m sure)!!

Onto the final week 🏁 that finish line is in sight 🏃‍♀️🦌

Thanks! Still hoping for a 🦌 run.. maybe Week 9... How are you doing? When is your next run? How are your ankles 😬 (Sorry forgot to hit reply button there!)

I'm sure you'll hit the gazelle 🦌 sweet spot before no time - sounds like this mornings run wasn't far off for you! I've taken an extended rest since my Friday run as my ankle tendons have been pretty sore. I'm hoping to be back out there tomorrow morning 🤞 but will play it by ear.

You mentioned you were following strength training programme - which one did you go for? 💪

Good that you're resting the ankles until you feel ready again. No point pushing it this far down the line. I will take it easy for my final week, too but the end is in sight and it's hard not to get out there and get it done! For my strength training, I train once a week with a trainer and once a week choose a strength session on my Peloton app to follow. A good friend actually HAS a Peloton and has added me to their app so I can use access the workouts. I have to keep a consistent strength training programme going for my knee which is weak post ops and post ski crashes!! it's an ongoing thing and I know it's doing me good but sometimes, I'd much rather just run now I'm a RUNNER :-) There are loads of strength training workouts online/YouTube etc. Some of the bodyweight only workouts are great. Programmes specifically for runners might be a good option too? Are you stretching out properly after each run, maybe you need to stretch out your calves more to help the ankles...

Yes - after the first few runs I made sure to implement the pre and post stretches as per the pinned post on the forum.

I need to incorporate some strength training for my weak ankles though (I’ll find some online) - it’s the tendons that are suffering but I’ve taken some advice, have been assured it’s nothing too serious and I have some orthotics to try in my running shoes. Fingers 🤞 it will all help.

I know what you mean about dying to get back out there! It’s been strange not running again today - I nearly went this evening!! What has happened to me?

Yes! Week 8 smashed 😁💪🏻 and great time too!

Week 9 better watch out because its gonna get spanked!

You've done brilliantly this week and I'm sure the next will be even better! It's amazing how this programme builds you up to be able to find that little bit extra each time 💪🏻

Already looking forward to reading the next ones 😁 👍🏻
