Does anyone else suffer from chilblains? It is upsetting my running because my running shoes are tight because of the chilblains. I am using an over the counter product which helps. I have suffered with poor circulation all my life and the wonderful benefit from running was that my circulation appeared to be helped. That was in the good weather. Now it is colder it is becoming a barrier for going out and running.

Chilblains
I suffer with chilblains, thankfully I have not had any this autumn so far. I take medication when it gets cold as I was finally diagnosed with Raynaud's last year which affects both hands and feet. I'm dreading running in winter as I am always cold. When I had my gait analysis I was recommended to try toe socks. I find these are really helpful and hope that they remain that way. I always start with a pair of gloves but take these off when I get warm. I also layer up normally but I am not sure how I will carry all of my layers when I get warm. I haven't run in winter yet as I started C25K in April.
It may be worth trying a larger pair of shoes to give you more room for your toes.
I hope you manage to control your chilblains as I fully understand how painful they can be. I would be interested to hear what works for you.
Thanks for your reply and it is good to know someone else understands how uncomfortable poor circulation can be. I also suffer with Raynaud's it diagnosed many years ago and the medication made me go red and very hot. I will try the toe socks that sounds like good advice. Often people say wear two pairs of socks but the tightness would be unbearable. I layer up for running and then hide my clothes in bushes to be collected on my way back. It is like a comedy film. I hope you do not get chilblains this winter and I will keep you up dated on what works for me.
