Well after reaching my 3rd week 2nd run I had noticed some tightening in my left knee.. I had bought new trainers and started treadmill on a slight incline just up one.. as recommended on couch to 5k. What I also noticed but didn't pay much attention to, was the scuffing of one of my trainers on right leg, I put this down to my relapsing remittance multiple sclerosis as my weak side is the right side with this condition. After the run my knee started clicking and catching and then next day locking. I had had key hole surgery about 6 years back on this knee but wasnt experiencing the same pain as b4. My knee started to lock next day after driving so went straight to hospital they did an xray but came back 'no further action' i have had to push my doctors to get mri now and help .. so been resting since my last happy run. I have felt to frustrated and upset feeling like whatever i do i ends up restricted but now the fighters back and the self pity I dumped I Was unable to walk my dogs also so that cheesed me off and obviously them . Have now started walking dogs again.. knee is not catching except for odd clicks about 3 times a day instead of every time i moved. The thing with having MS is wen u get another issue it taps into that condition so u end up quite messed up all over to put it politely . SO decided to go back to the beginning week1 first run yesterday, at a much slower pace with no incline and my original trainers , being very cautious and vigilant of my injuries wearing support for knee and using a special rub to put on b4 and after exercising plus stretching..The run was fantastic but scary too, I felt so humbled that i got through.. I am a strong willed positive person most times after having a little sulk iI get up and try again..i have had to plod on my own with my ups and downs and illnesses in my life. This life can be so daunting at times but worse when your physically unable too do ur normal day to day tasks but there is alot of positive stuff out there too . WEll here we go again im not a quitter and want anyone else out there to know we r not failures either.. just do whatever you can know matter how small u think it is setbacks come and go in every form not just on here!! So back to the beginning for me slowly but surely and if it happens again i shall continue as b4..resting knees today and shall see how I feel tomorrow if alls good shall do my 1st week 2nd run then. Whilst awaiting docters answers as all i have to go by right now is theres know further action required but i know i have to be watchful and not to be stupid..Happy Running all πŸŽƒ

My first attempt at C25K stopped in W2 because of knee pain!!! I too had had knee surgery about 8 years prior and assumed that was the end of my very short running career! 6 weeks later I tried again, more determined than ever. I wore a knee support at first but soon ditched it. I did take two rest days between runs for quite a while to give myself plenty of recovery time. I graduated and am still running three and a half years later. Of course I don't have the MS complications, but thought this might just help a bit. Wishing you good luck!

Thank you very kind im going to do my second run today as i didnt want to push it really needed your encouragement thx #linda9389

Hi, I'm a newbie looking through posts and found yours. I hope you're still going. Although I don't have MS I can identify with having knee problems and also how it can affect you mentally. The best help I found was outside of the NHS using a sports massage professional. They are trained physios too, giving encouragement and exercise advice. I went from taking painkillers and walking with a stick to now trying C25K. It has been a long journey taking 3 years. Others would have taken less time. I just didn't understand how hard and often I needed to work regarding exercise. Take care. πŸ™‚
