Made a rookie mistake this morning, forgot to use the bathroom before heading out for my run! My pelvic floor has never had such a good workout because for 46 minutes I had no choice but to clench, clench and clench some more!! (tmi I know) This was also a 'naked' run so I didn't even have music or an app to help distract me....never been so glad to see my front door!
Have to say though, this was a good run, with my second and third miles being stronger than my first according to my stats, so despite feeling that I was going at a snails pace I was actually doing okay. I also made a point of having mini conversations with everyone I passed this morning, just to check on my breathing, works a treat.
This week my mini aim is to cover the 5km distance every run inclusive of warm up and cool down. Just to make sure I get used to regularly covering that distance.
I actually haven't been able to get out for a run since Saturday night, so was grateful for the sunshine and blue skies this morning that kicked my ass promptly into action. I will admit, the drizzle and grey does little to make me want to get out there but I'm sticking to my plan and running when the mood strikes. Trying to fit in runs aswell as daily dog walks can be a bit much sometimes but it's helping me hit my step goals no problem and currently averaging 30+ miles per week minimum of combined exercise so either way, it's a win win. Plus the weight is still coming down slowly but surely.
Whatever happens, I just want to keep this up as a form of exercise. It's helping massively with stress levels whilst job hunting and all of the anxiety that goes with that and the whole relentlessness of the covid situation.
Hope you're all having a great week out there anyway.
Well done Hidden you did well to keep running after that unfortunate start!π I think youβre very sensible to combine running with walking etc. Youβre right to keep to 5K for the time being while you consolidate your runs.πββοΈ
Running is such a help with lifeβs stresses, especially with Covid and everything else.ππ
Another great consolidation run Burkey46 π, and who doesn't like a pelvic floor workout ππ½. Sounds like you're getting a steady run routine into your week brilliant stuff. It's a simple fact that the more you get those runs into your legs they get easier and that weekly goal will definitely increase, but do it slowly and steadily β it doesn't need to be a race ππ.
Good luck with the employment thingy that sucks for sure, but at least the running is a brief escape, providing you time, and thinking timeπ
Well done ππΎ... I always try and go before I leave home whether I feel the need or not and havenβt been caught short (yet). Kudos to you for making it to the end of the run with all intactπ.
Have to confess that with no dog to nag me, my 2mile walks have gone a bit awol π
Today is a food shop day, I usually walk first...but overslept...
Also, tbh, today Iβm feeling a bit under the weather, possibly starting symptoms of my annual winter cold...so even though the weather is good, Iβm tucked up in my chair with a lemsip and iPad π¬ π€
Yep it's that time of year, soon as the weather changes along comes all the bugs and germs. Even more reason to take care with Covid still lurking aswell.
That's the point, that's how it's done. You'll reach the stage where 5K is just 'ok'. And then you'll see what difference that makes overall in terms of focus, endurance and strength. When it comes to weather, I can't sweet-coat it, it will get worse as you know. Running, however, is one of those rare things where, once you're out there, it just doesn't make much difference.
Thanks Cazza, need all the luck I can get right now. C25K was a breeze compared to job hunting but at least running distracts me and gets me out, keeps me sane right now π€
