W9R3- Did I really just do that?!

β€’7 Replies

Well, according to Strava I did! I just ran 3.13 miles (= 5.04K) in 34.04 minutes and according to the C25K app I am now a graduate πŸŽ“!! I am feeling just a little bit pleased with myself as I’ve never run further than a mile before in my life and that was as a 16 year old schoolboy 49 years ago. There is something magical about this programme that can take someone for whom exercise was an 8 letter swear word and turn them into a runner. Cos that’s what I am now!!

With regards to the run itself, there were 4 main highlights - getting a rousing β€œGo on Merv” from one of the locals about 12 minutes in was a real boost; seeing my wife who had changed her walking route especially in the hope that we would pass each other was also a great boost for the final 9 minutes or so; actually running for more than 30 minutes for the first time; and actually running for the full 5K for the first time. Looking back on it, I now realise I could have pushed even harder in the last few minutes to have got to the 5K mark faster but hey-hoe.

I’ll be running other 5Ks over the coming weeks and then see where that leads.

The pleasure and pride that I am feeling in this achievement is not mine alone - a lot of those feelings are yours as well. Your support and encouragement have played a really big part in my achieving this fantastic thing. I also have to give a big thank you to my wonderful wife who has encouraged and supported me every step of the way.

ENJOY YOUR RUNNING -I KNOW I AM πŸ€©πŸƒπŸΌπŸƒπŸΌπŸƒπŸΌ
