Consolidation run!
Well done! I struggled with my head for the first run but I look forward to getting a few more under my belt like you have. Are you thinking of moving up to 10K?
Woah - steady on, there!!! I’m totally commitment averse so I make it a rule never to declare any ‘targets’!!! Even starting C25K I was ‘just start and see how it goes...’!!! I still can’t believe I’ve got this far tbh!
My first idea is to get a habit going that I find enjoyable. So, 3 runs a week (but don’t mind if it ends up being 2) of around 30mins, maybe for 4 weeks then review. I might do some shorter runs to work on speed intervals, as part of that too. After that , who knows?!!! (Mind you, I caught myself searching for the ‘magic plan’ in B210k earlier - can’t believe anything I say, clearly!!! ) Just keeping it steady and fun at the mo. Hope you’re making the progress you want to!
I've already downloaded the 10K sister app to the original C25K app I was working on. I ran 5K regularly on the treadmill indoors for a couple of years but running outside is much harder. In an ideal world I'd love to start the 10K training scheme immediately but I haven't even run 5K yet. Having said that, the first run on the 10K app is 4 lots of 10 minutes with a 1 minute walk between each 10 minute segment. Given the fact that I ran for 50 minutes last Friday when I graduated, I know I can probably already do Week 1 of the 10K app. I think I need a few consolidation runs yet though before attempting it. Day 2 of the 10K app is three lots of 15 minutes. I think I need to build up to that somewhat, as it took me three goes to get past 5 minutes on my first consolidation run. It is without doubt a mental battle and I want to make sure that my head is tuned in to half an hour properly before attempting to run further.
I'm the opposite to commitment averse, I go steaming in and then wonder what on earth I've gotten myself into!
