Was super inspired by so many posts this morning by people graduating over the last couple of days and couldn't wait to get out and do my final run of Couch to 5k (a massive congratulations everybody)! As I approached the sportsfield though I got the biggest pang of nerves. I began berating my body: what's wrong with you, you've done this before, it's only a little run and eventually gave it no choice in the matter and started the warm-up with the ever dependable Paranoid by Black Sabbath. Had a bit of a mix to begin with Forever Autumn (Justin Hayward) , When We Were Young (Killers), Fat Bottomed Girls (Queen ๐), and Faithfulness (Skin - if your unfamiliar with this one, give the radio mix a listen, it's brilliant). For the life of me though, I couldn't tell you what I crossed the line to and that is NOT like me. I was obviously grinning too much to care!
I know I went over time-wise (33:55, please don't tell me off ๐) but I really wanted to finish the programme with a 5k and wondered if I'd be able to do it using the 10% rule. I was close enough. I also had another reason too. I'm terrible for not sticking to things if there's not a challenge or incentive. That being said, I decided to coincide my last run of C25k with my first run of my Cancer Research Marathon Challenge. With the target of running 26.2 miles over a month, I wanted to kick it off with a good run in case weather gets in the way later in the month.
Currently feeling ecstatic and can't wipe the grin off my face! Best of luck to those starting out or part-way through C25k โ you can definitely do it even if you ever doubt yourself โ and a massive thank you to all you lovely people on this forum. I definitely wouldn't have done it without you ๐ Xx

Oh wow, I bet that was an experience! Thanks so much Instructor57! ๐
Well done you!! Go get that graduate badge to go next to your name ๐๐
I know just what you mean about sticking to things, or not....I really need that push and that motivation and this group has been the first thing I've enjoyed in a really long time! And stuck to without getting bored ๐๐
There's obviously something a bit special about this ๐
Thanks Burkey46! ๐. I have just this second requested my badge and will wear it with pride lol. I realised I wrote the post as if people were psychic about how long it took. I was just under 34 minutes so did exceed the 10% but I just really wanted to see if I could do it. I was knackered haha! Never have two laps of the field felt so long ๐
Congratulations Pnegirl that photo says it all...youโll be smiling for the rest of the day ๐ great achievement and an impressive 5k time too. Enjoy your Graduation Day ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐ ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ
Well you certainly finished with a flourish ๐๐ 5k and a very good pace too to achieve that time .
Very well done , you were on ๐ฅ๐ฅ
I do like the sound of your challenge , I saw similar for the Red Cross and it would motivate us to keep running regularly . Not sure Iโm up to 26 mile though ๐๐
Also this rain is abysmal ๐ซ Iโm running a day late for R3 .
Got Run2 done yesterday but canโt say I enjoyed it . Mostly down to bolting off again ๐ฌ.
Like you , little thoughts of will I keep going are crossing my mind but I wonโt be going any further unless I control my pace ๐๐๐
I was jiggered after my 30 mins ๐ฅด
Anyway have a fabulous Saturday and do bask in your glory for the whole weekend and beyond ๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ Very well deserved !
I feel so bad that the weather has put a spanner in the works but it won't be long now and I'll be cheering you on from the virtual sideline ๐๐ฃ. Yeah, at first I thought 'no chance' to the challenge but then I started thinking about it and doing the maths on the best case/worst case scenarios and if I can do 3miles on each run, I won't be too under pressure. Figured out I'd need between 9 and 13 runs to complete it. There are so many out there for October, it was hard to choose. Thanks so much for your support Racinginthestreet and I can't wait to read your graduation post ๐๐
Pnegirl, many, many congrats to you๐๐ & well done!!๐๐ Good luck & best wishes in all your future ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ (& musical) adventures.
Well done on graduation! You finished it off with an awesome run. I hope youโve eaten a large helping of strudel or something equally lovely in celebration. You deserve it! Iโve decided to have a go at the 10K now. I only ran 4K for my final run so Iโm anticipating reaching the 5K at some point in the lead up to running 10K (which may never actually happen). All I know is this running malarkey is good for the mind and body. ๐๐ช๐
I managed to stay away from the sweets haha but I did have my favourite tea (jalfrezi) tonight so made sure I had a proper treat ๐
That's amazing that you're going for the 10k. I don't know if you'll be posting about that on here, but I'd like to see how you find it as I'm tempted but probably not just yet. Running if definitely good for the mind and soul, couldn't agree more!
Fantastic, well done! I envy you your time, but then my excuse is that Iโm just a little older๐ Go out and enjoy some relaxed consolidation runs. Itโs a great feeling.
