Ouch! and so close to finishing

On Saturday I ran w9r1. I didn't take my own advice. Did 30 minutes and then instead of stopping I pushed on 8 more minutes for 5k - bad mistake. I've now got a foot injury. First time I didn't stick to the plan, first injury. Can't do w9r2 and can't do my graduation run at Parkrun as planned on Saturday. Very disappointed, very, very stupid. Hopefully one week and then start w9 again. Stick to the plan guys, don't run too far, don't run too fast 😒😒

Noooooo....

So annoying! I thought you doing the 5k as a one-off would be OK.

Check online for foot stretches and exercises.

Hopefully you can still walk without too much pain and keep up the habit of getting out there. 😸

Thanks Katnap, I'll check online. Most annoying thing is the weather this week is perfect!!

Tough.

Some people get away with it........some don't.........but why take the risk?

The plan is progressive for a reason.

Ah it's not all bad Stevie get some rest and ease back in slowly you know you can do this now so just listen to your body and you will be fit and ready next week

Thanks Sunny, I'm ready and roaring to go, but my foot isn't!

That's a shame , I hope it heals soon.

Thank you for sharing that though, as I think recently I have been reading a lot of posts that have made me wonder if the poster is not pushing too hard, or missing rest/repair days.

So your " stick to the plan" advice is good to see.😶

Thanks Jell. Usual case of giving advice to others on here and not following it myself .

🤣🤣🤣, we are so good at that.!

If I'm dithering about niggles I now think " what advice would I give to someone else?"

It keeps me sensible 🤗

Ouch.

I gotta say, well done for demonstrating why we stick to the plan, that’s above and beyond.

You’ll be back in a week or so and the rest will set you up nicely. Those guys at parkrun will be there next week too!

Hope you can stay active for the endorphins kick, and you’re back out there soon.

Ooh that’s not good, hopefully your foot injury is quick at healing. I can only imagine the annoyance - so close to completing. Just know that it will happen and all the best athletes have injuries at some stage - never a good time 😏 I shall look forward to seeing your name in the ‘Graduation’ list in the near future

Thanks JJ - it's perfect running weather and other than my foot I feel great. Grrrrr!!

That's a bit of a blow but I'm sure you'll recover and complete your graduation soon. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks. Gotta do 3 runs in week 9 to graduate so hopefully some warm up runs next week and then restart w9 (to plan) the week after!

Ah Stevie, just seen this as checked in so I could say well done on finishing 😳. So sorry to hear that, you must be so frustrated. Take a rest, and the victory will seem SO much sweeter when you get there. Look how far you’ve come! Hope you find some positive things to do with the enforced rest. Sue

Thanks Sue. I was gutted but it's a lesson on not planning to far ahead. I hope some warm up runs next week and then graduation the week after if the foot shows no signs

Aah gutted for you steviej, how frustrating.

Rest up and get better soon, we all want to see you cross that line just as much as you do, but you’ll be back on it soon enough.

🤞💪👍
