Finally managed a run!

Tesco text eventually arrived, delivery between 3 and 4pm. So, that excuse was taken off the table and I had no choice but to kick myself out into the wild, wet and windy weather.

I started with the long, brisk, painful walk up the Hill of Horrors. I really HATE that bit, and can't imagine a time or parallel universe in which I'd ever be able to run it. Still, a brisk walk up it still contributes to fitness and it certainly makes a strong warm up!

Onto the Psycho Path, aka the Cycle Path, which undulates but not to a degree of utter torture. Jogged this, there and back.

Finally, back onto the Hill of Happiness for the homeward stretch, which I ran. Funny how it changes its name when going in the other direction...🤔

All in all, just short of 5k, about 45 minutes of fairly energetic activity, which will do me.

Now to settle down and watch a little bit of the Trump v Biden dark comedy from the middle of the night, pack a few more boxes for moving, and get ready to welcome my Tesco delivery, highlight of the week and my only current socially distanced social interaction as living in Co Durham we are currently banned from human contact. Such fun!

Happy running all, and if you made sense of any of that, congratulations. 😁

So pleased you got to run today! It almost seemed as though there was a conspiracy going on 😀. Hope you feel better for it 💕

I do! The weather wasn't inviting, but I quite enjoyed it once out.

I'm not sure I'd describe the debate as dark comedy. One of the CNN commentators described it as a show with excrement qualities (but in fewer, shorter words).

Hopefully you missed the worst of today's rain.

Yeah, it looked pretty awful from what my American friends are saying. I need to watch it though.

Really pleased you got out and round Scout! Go you!! I went out early again (just as dawn was breaking -very pretty sky) but blowing a hoolie! Despite running the 7k circuit, the wind was on my face the whole way. Don’t know how that could happen. It’s the same run I do most regularly, but this morning I was a good two mins slower...I’m blaming the tornado twister🥴. But, tbh, I don’t mind what time I take. I care much more about getting out and then getting round. I love your names for sections of your runs, and must invent one for my final hill home - the farm road is the inspired ‘recognised’ name of said road. Always... uphill...only...ever...uphill...the whole way! Hill of Happiness? Reverse psychology Might just work. I’ll keep thinking. Meanwhile take care of you. We love hearing from you and would miss you hugely if you ever thought, even for a pico second, to stop posting. Keep going girl...you’ve got this, despite how tough it is. X

Aw, that's so lovely! Really cheered me up.

My Hill of Horrors is the route from home, hideously uphill all the way. It becomes the Hill of Happiness on the way back, for obvious reasons! I love that last bit of a run, where downhill means all the tiredness flies away from the legs, and the breathing is easy. I'll miss it when I move.

Yep, the wind is awful. It's my least favourite weather anyway, doubly so when trying to run in it. Like you, I don't give a thump about times, it's just about staying as fit as I can, and sometimes about running off the stress.

Onwards...x

Love the Jekyll & Hyde labelling technique for this hill! 🤭 Fab run! 🏃‍♂️ Hope you enjoyed the dark comedy - it would be funny if it wasn’t real! 🤦‍♂️

Absolutely. I don't think 'enjoyed' really describes it though. As I'm not enjoying much that's going on in the UK either.

At least running is a release.

It’s all so very scary/depressing isn’t it? Running is our release 💪

Glad you managed to get out and run yesterday 😁

Hill of Horrors vs Hill of Happiness - love that🤣

Also loved the bit where Biden told Trump to "shut up man!"
