Running too fast!!!!!

This morning I completed my first run on week 1, this is however my second time around as I'm too nervous to go to week 2!! I have spent a lot of time on HealthUnlocked looking at advice and members comments and this morning had an entirely different running experience. Firstly, I maintained a slow jog rather than an energetic run, which to be honest was killing me and I was only just managing to run for the minute, hence staying on week 1. Thank you for all the very good advice, I'm now looking forward to going onto week 2.

Im going into wk9 and still telling myself to slow down , especially at start of run. Now that I can do it I am able to slowly increase in pace as the run goes on without turning into a 🍅😂

Brilliant you’ve clocked that on wk 1 👌

Before I set off I jog on the spot to remind myself that’s the pace 😂

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Well done - that’s brilliant!! I still clearly remember doing the Wk1 runs last September and being very alarmed about moving on. But all the ‘slowdown’ advice really does work!!

Last week I decided to celebrate my 1yr anniversary of starting C25K by doing Wk1R1 and I just had to laugh when I saw the result - I actually ran faster last year😂😂 but that speed was unsustainable for me!!

It’s taken me a year to get to grips with setting and maintaining a pace - but today I ran for 55 mins non stop ! Trust the plan ... it really does work!

Good luck and happy running. You can do it!!

Slow is good. Let ‘slow’ be your friend because she’ll get you to graduation and keep you running after you’ve graduated. Well done for changing your approach 😊
