Gutted today was meant to do run 3 wk6 but after 13 mins I had to stop and walk for 1min started again but gave up with 4 mins to go - first time I’ve given into how my body feels and what my mind tells me- I’m going to try again Monday and hopefully get through it

Please don’t feel deflated, everyone has a different journey through the programme.

Just remember to slow down, breath and hydrate. You can do this!

Thanks but I don’t think I can slow down anymore !!! But I won’t give up , maybe a bit dehydrated and am trying to put it down to one of those days - but will get there next wk

You can do this !

But everyone says they can't slow down anymore and yes they can !

Can you speak full sentences while running without gasping for breath ?

If the answer is no, it's simply too fast .

Slow down, then slow down again !

Also be sure you are fully hydrated.

You should be drinking 2.5 to 3 litres a day even on non run days .

Good luck 👍

Thanks - I really am incredibly slow! That is one thing I’ve learnt already to slow down but I am surrounded by hills and struggle to recover from them and keep running , I am slowly seeing an improvement in that , definitely think that dehydration may have played a part and ultimately my mind , thank you for the tips 👍

To give you some perspective on this , I did a 5k this morning pushing myself and my pace was 6:25/Km

I did a 10k last Sunday and to complete it I kept my pace down to just over 8:00/ Km.

The concept of conversational pace is not just some random guess, it's a well known method to measure your exertion level and put you in the most comfortable heart rate zone .

But when asking this question, it often gets dismissed.

Only to be accepted several runs later 🙂👍

Someone mentioned something that they call “the run bin” - chuck this one in the run bin and have another go in a day or so. We’ve all had runs that we’ve lived in our own personal run bins, believe me.

The hydration tip is a really important one so make sure that you are really well hydrated - you will find that helps.

You can do this - after all, you’ve done it twice before. You’ve got this 😊

I like that - ‘the run bin’ ! Thanks 😊

Don't think of it as giving up - you said you're going to try again on Monday, in my book you've only ever given up if you stop and never try again :) It's just a little bump in the road that means you need to try a different approach next time.

One thing I did during the programme on the tough runs, is I thought of a little mantra that I could say one word of (in my head) each time I took a step - I Won't Quit Now, I Can Do This, was mine....after a few rounds you start to say it more and more positively.

Thanks - i will try that , and it’s true 7 wks ago I wouldn’t have gone out and run for a minute let alone what I did so got to try to keep it in perspective and I am going to keep trying 💪

Everyone has bad days. Chalk it up to experience, have a rest day then go for it again.

Good advice here...honestly slow down and drink more water.

I’m sure that my “jog” is slower than my brisk walking...have you watched the Japanese Slow Jogging video?

Oh...and you didn’t fail, you just did a training run!

You can do it! 👊

I have seen the Japanese slow jogging and feel I’m only v slightly faster than that but I will try to slow it more ! Thanks 😊

Don’t feel gutted, you’ll be fine next time, just slow down a bit if you start finding it hard, you can easily speed up at the end if you’ve still got something left in the tank, I’ve had great runs and crappy runs, there’s no rhyme or reason to it...stay positive 💪🏻 have a look at my Jump Leads post and Bed to 5k, there are links on those to two great You Tube motivational videos that I watch before every run. I found another really good one on there too called You versus You.....have a look, they do help. Stay focused you can do it 👍
