It’s such a puzzle?

Ran a few days ago, was pleasurable!!!! Fun even! I still haven’t got to 5k but this was the closest I got!

Today, it was awful! Ran a km less, achey old legs and shin splints! Feel cross... I’ll still keep going in hope I’ll puzzle it out but honestly, 🤷‍♀️ no rhyme no reason?!?!

Hey,

It could be really hard to come back to running sometimes, don't panic, most of the time it is only temporary. The best thing in your case is that you have already been a runner and you have already gotten pleasure while running. So, you know it's possible. You just have to go past this.

The first thing that comes to mind in you case would be to makes sure you have checked all the basics before your first run:

1) Dyanmic stretching before?

2) 5 to 10 min of power walk before starting to run

3) Equipment update (avoid running with shoes that you haven't used in a few years)

and after:

4) Stretching and even massages afterward to make sure you don't get to much afterpain.

5) lots of water and if possible lots of vegetables and fruits for a faster recovery.

It might take a bit of time but I am sure you will make it 😃 Let's go!

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Does everyone unpick the differences and try to track back what they ate/drank/ how they slept etc?! 🤣 still can’t see any pattern?!🤷‍♀️🤣

If you can identify the reason you can avoid it recurring or reduce demands or expectations if everything is less than optimal.
