I would like to thank all of you for posting about the trials and tribulations of Week 6. I’ve just completed run 1 of said week and I’m sure I would have fruit much, much harder than I did if it wasn’t for your words of wisdom and experience.
Having read a lot of posts about week 6 and the return to interval running after the 20 minute end of week5 I concluded that mental preparation for week 6 was the key to successfully completing it.
Ok, I’m only one run into it, but the preparation I did, which involved telling myself I could do it and, more importantly, looking back at the interval running I had already achieved in weeks 4 & 5, showing me I definitely could do it paid off.
It was harder than the equivalent runs I’d done earlier but I still did it and, in fact, ran further round my route than ever before - so much so that I had to restart the circuit I run in order to fit in the final minute of running and the 5 minute warm-down walk.
One other thing helped- about a minute into the final leg my C25K playlist started playing one of my favourite songs by the great Little Feat and that provided me with a visual goal to make sure I finished. The title of that song? “Fat man in the bathtub” and now it’s the tap that’s doing the running.
