I finished week 5 on Monday and found the 20 minute run nowhere near as bad a I thought it would be, especially as the last 9 minutes were into a strongish headwind (about 20 mph according to my weather station) and some rain.
Have read a few posts about week 6 being a tough one. Any tips?
When I finished Week 5, in my mind I thought the first two runs in Week 6 would be easier (why wouldn't it? they are shorter duration than W5R3) and that was the biggest mistake I made.
I was overly confident and didn't mentally prepare enough for those short runs in Week 6 than I did for the last run in Week 5 so my advice would be to take the first two runs as serious as the others runs you've done so far, they are to prepare you for the 25 minutes run.
I was also going for my runs every other day where sometimes I would 4 times in a calendar week but I think for this week, I made sure I was prepared to give myself 2 rest days if I needed it which meant my end goal (completing C25K before going on holiday) was still achievable if I needed more rest days.
It really is all about prep and sometimes, you'll just have a crap run. My last run of the entire programme was horrible and I just about managed to do 32 minutes (I wanted to go longer) and then 3 days after finishing, I went for a run and managed to run 40 minutes without issue!!
