Hello runners!

Last Saturday, in my efforts to get off the IC, I tried a W2 run. It went pretty well - though not completely free of discomfort, at least it wasn't too bad and the leg pain eased off during the walking bits. And those 90 second runs felt so good in every other way! Felt OK afterwards too, so was feeling pretty positive - especially reading the updates of all the others recovering from injury who were going back to the C25K plan.

So on Monday I decided to try another W2, but this one really didn't go so well. Much more discomfort, the walking breaks didn't help, and discomfort and random shooting pains continued the next day, and the next... I was pretty disappointed to be honest. Maybe I should have had another rest day, especially since I'd been on my feet all day on Monday and had walked over 16,000 steps before even starting the run. Maybe I was just over excited and subconsciously pushed too hard, or dehydrated, or...

Wednesday saw me in Sheffield for the day - scrunched up in the back seat of a car on the way down with no back support, a day sat in a meeting... Not good. Then managed my usual trick of realising I had 20 mins to get to the station, collect my ticket, find the platform... And I was a good 20 mins walk away from the station. So extremely brisk walking interspersed with half-running - the latter was a little painful so I'd go back to walking, but then look at my watch and think 'argh, 10 mins, run! Ow that hurts, walk!' Made it - just!

So I was very apprehensive about what to do yesterday. Should I try week 2 again, or back to week 1? Should I run at all? Reading more updates from others well on their way encouraged me to try again, and figured I'd give W2 another go. Took it extremely easy on the running, filled my mind with thoughts of 🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌 - a veritable procession of snails - but made sure the walking was brisk - and was relieved that it was a definite improvement on last time. Will have to see how my leg is feeling today - fingers crossed it won't be too upset and I might try again tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone else on the IC, I hope your stay is brief, and to everyone out there running - enjoy!

I’d say your previous run was scuppered before you started! 16k steps BEFORE you did the run!!

Glad the last was better, hopefully today won’t see any return of any pains

Thanks Stephen! This sciatica does seem to be very stubborn, and just seems like it will never go away. I know others have coped, and are coping, with far worse though, and in the scheme of things this is relatively minor. Good to see that you've managed to sort your issues out - it's been giving me hope that these sorts of things can be resolved, eventually!

Hope your legs feel ok today! I think you took it sensibly after you realised that you’d overdone the steps that day. 🀞🏻 it works out for you πŸ€—

Cheers Equi- they managed a walk into town, though were less impressed with having to carry 5.5kg of bird food back up the hill πŸ™„ If they're feeling ok in 2-3 hours then I'll try another run...

Hello Eiralas, Oh dear! You have had a tough, tough time, haven't you. You simply are a ⭐️ maintaining your resolve, hope and positivity! Well done you! Absolutely time for more flowers 🌺🌼🌸. I am finally back from all the Summer activities assistant cook at a camp, Husband's leaving do's and California! We attended a niece's wedding there, stayed with my brother (our first visit to his Californian home since he has been there (33years)!!!!!!) and then undertook a road trip. My husband was not well, the doctor at a US hospital wanted him to stay at least overnight, husband refused(!) and amazingly managed many miles of onward driving and here we are home!! No running whilst away and now slowly starting back. Have completed a 15min and a 18 minute run. enough of me! Well done you for keeping going. Sorry that I have been out of touch and all the best for your onward running journey. Are you still seeing a physio? And how is your🐈?
