I’m following a 10k program that’s built into my Garmin watch...
Just done my 2nd 4.83km (3 miles, it’s an American program) run in 2 days both at 7min/km. Don’t like running on consecutive days, and new runners on here, don’t do it you need the rest day for your muscles to recover.
On completion I’m rewarded with this screen ... how motivational 😆 think I’ll ignore that one in future!

yes it hit hard NOW. but if your medical condition is not permanent (weight for example), it will change.
Telling a bit about me, hope it's not that too boring, likely off topic for a big part
for me, a while ago, it was showing.. something like 27, in the bottom last % of "runners" , way worse than what it is for you.
2 years later :
It improved A LOT. (from 107.5kg to 79.5kg), as it is based on weight.
If you are loosing a few kgs, it will improve, and each jump in this number will make you smile more and more !!!!
now, it's higher than I would have expected... and I'm calculating how much it will be when my weight will be at x or y
So you can ignore it, but not too long, as likely soon, you'll love to check it quite often...
I'm still a slow runner, but faster than ever, and definitely slower than what I will be in 5 kg
also sharing a few more, I was not able to run more than 30s, and I ran 34km last week !
last but not least, don't overdo it :
trying to run faster each time, is a pure waste of time, and an open door to injuries.
your training is good, but I'd tell that the garmin coach was gifting me with tendinitys !
when it was telling me : easy run, I had to force a lot to be at the mentionned pace. If it's the same for you, SLOW down.
the best progress I made, was actually by running slower (than myself I'm slow all the time if I compare to others) , ie, the program was telling me to run at 6:30 for easy runs, while an easy run was likely about 8:00/km...
such slow runs, on which you can run much longer distances, feeling great at the end, and craving to run the day after, opened longer distances, and made me... A WAY faster 5k runner... I spend the summer running SLOW , without anything fast, and I just exploded my 5k record....
Was complaining last week it was too light, and this week it’s presented me with 5k, 5k, 6.5k and 3k (rounded to the nearest as it’s in miles) I’m sure you found similar, in only on week 2 so wonder if I’ll actually get through it!
We had a 6.44 in week 2 but haven’t e that distance since, i think we have 6.44 on Thursday which is week 6, we are doing hill repeats once a week one either pace run or negative splits and one longer run
We don’t feel we are getting any better we are struggling to fit round work, twice in a week we had to run in the morning before work and I will still be working at close to midnight tonight, having said all that when i look back each 3.22 run is a little faster than the last and each 5k run is a little faster than the last so without noticing over the weeks we are getting stronger
