Ringing the Changes And A Thoroughly Enjoyable 5.5k

I don't normally run late afternoon on a Saturday but I've not been sleeping that well and the lure of a lie in and not having to get up for work was too hard to resist.

So,after watching the Tour de France this afternoon, I did something today I've not done before and drove a short distance for my run. I also decided on a new playlist to mark the occasion. This was also run 1 of week 1 of ju-jus Magic 10k plan for me.

This turned out to be a most enjoyable run - an out and back along the sea wall of the estuary of the River Crouch. Great scenery, the smell of ozone, and the weather was perfect - high teens, sunshine and a brisk, but not too strong, cooling breeze. I didn't see a soul all run, singing out loud and waving my arms around like a lunatic, Queen's Greatest Hits in my ears!

And I beat my previous 5k PB by almost 3 minutes - 2:53 to be precise

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable run.

Sounds idyllic, great result. Love your choice of music, my fave band of all time and go to for me while out running. Glad to see you decided to go with ju ju. I'm still going to try my adaptive options, hopefully finishing wk2 on Monday with my 'long run' which will be 6.5k.

Thanks.I really enjoyed it.

I decided I might as well go with the plan - it will give some structure to my running which is something that's been missing for a while now

Good luck for your long run on Monday. Mine is going to be a short one - I might use the Speed podcast again

Congratulations on your 5K PB, good post from you and a lovely photo of the River Crouch, ha, for you it was Crouch to 5K if you did C25K along the side of that river

Thank you!

Ha ha! That's so funny. 😂

I don't know why I haven't run there before now as it's always been a favourite weekend walk. In winter thee are Brent Geese and lots of waders and sometimes there are seals

Sounds perfect! Well done 👏👏👏👍

And almost 3 minutes off your previous 5K time, too - the icing on the cake! 😀

Lovely photo! Makes me want to run there! 🏃‍♀️

Thanks!

It's a really nice place to walk, especially in winter with lots of Geese and waders. I might make it my go-to 5k run.

I think it gave me the lift I needed
