Mo ran 21,330m, bettering the record of 21,285m set by Haile Gebrselassie in 2007. In. One. Hour. That's basically just over half marathon in an hour. Wow. Wow, indeed.

That's a pace of 2.8min/km or thirteen and a bit back-to-back 4.5 minute miles.

Wow!

Excellent run for Mo, especially that he is now 37, I was watching athletics on TV on Friday, The British Championships, it was the 5000 metres (5K), the woman who came last despite a time of 17.17.33 was lapped by the winner, all those runners would be sub 20 minutes at a parkrun.

I caught the women's 5,000 metre race last night. The winner (Judd?) was tall and ran in a way that looked laboured and almost painful, yet she left everyone in the the dust as the race drew near to a close and finished with a time that worked out to be around three lots of five-minute miles.

I shan't comment on Mo Farah's amazing achievement as it's 4x the distance I can manage in just over twice as long as it takes me to do a 5k. Brain (and body) melting. Suffice to say, go Mo!

I'll be running a 5K this morning as part of the (not) parkrun series, it won't be sub 20 minutes, I hope at least it will be sub 35 minutes as most of my 5K's are.

Hope it goes well.

Heading out for a first consolidation run soon. Looking forward to it as I'm going off to break new ground in a new location and do my first off-road run.

Planning on taking it very easy on this new non-concrete/non-tarmac ground and setting 5k as the approximate marker for the end of the run.

Let's see how this goes...
