I've twisted my knee πŸ˜’πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I had a second rest day yesterday as my calves had been aching after Sunday's run. This morning was cooler but very blustery, my calves were fine and I decided to go for my run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. I was feeling so positive I decided to run for the first time without my comfort blanket of a bottle of water 😲. I thought I would die if I didn't take a sip of water every few minutes but I was fine! 🀣

As I approached the 30 minute / 4K mark I thought I've got a good chance to keep going and reach the 5K. Then I heard a vehicle coming up behind me and as I run along a single track country road, I turned my head to see if it was something big that I needed to get out of the way of and OUCH!!! I'd twisted my knee 😩. I ran for a few steps but realised it was too painful and hobbled the rest of the way home 😒. I couldn't call husband to come and get me as he was out on the golf course. β›³

So I've been lying on the sofa all afternoon with my feet up. It stiffened up and was very painful when I got up just now but got easier when I walked around the house a bit. I'm not really sure if I should rest it or keep it moving? I certainly won't be running for a while. πŸ˜•

Oh no. That's real bad luck. Must admit I choose routes that are traffic free(apart from bicycles) for that reason. Hope to see you back real soonπŸ™πŸ‘

A mixture of rest and cautious movement might be indicated. Did you put any ice on it? Have you taken any ibuprofen?

I've taken ibuprofen. I had an elastic bandage on it but just taken it off as ut was a bit tight.

Oh dear, Norfolk Wifey, only just seen this, I hope you’re ok, running on these single track roads is a bit of a health hazard. How’s your knee doing? My physio brother always says β€˜don’t run again until you are pain free’ good advice I think. πŸ€—

My knee is improving each day thank you but still very achy when I stand or walk for a time. Going downstairs or down a slope is the worst. I've been going for gentle walks. I won't be running again for at least another couple of weeks and I'm considering finding somewhere safer to run. There are a couple of National Trust parks fairly near me I could try.

Sounds like a good plan, somewhere reasonably flat is much kinder on hurt knees πŸ€—
