My consolidation runs have been going really well up until now.
I usually run early morning.... but the wind and rain were fierce today, so I thought I'd change it up a bit and go for an evening run instead.
I could tell from the moment I left the house that it was going to be a toughie .... I was struggling against the wind even just on the 5 minute warm-up walk.
When I started running I was headed directly into the wind. It felt like I was getting nowhere fast, despite exerting quite a considerable amount of effort!
After about 10 minutes of being battered, it all felt just too much and I stopped running. I managed to convince myself to get going again rather than just walk back home, but I ground to a halt again around ten minutes later! I haven't done that before. Throughout the programme I remained determined not to stop, no matter how tough things felt. I was, and remain, pretty annoyed with myself for giving in to my fatigue gremlins!
Oh well, no point in beating myself up over it I guess. I think I just need to chalk this one off as a learning experience.... running in stormy weather isn't easy! Having looked at my garmin app I can see that I started off too fast - probably over compensating for the head wind. Next time, I will try to 'go with it' a little more.... or maybe just wait until the storm blows over.
Stay cosy and safe everyone x
