W1R1 - I can succeed šŸ„“

Iā€™ve just completed W1R1

Iā€™m 48 and tried this about 4-5 years ago but didnā€™t allow myself repeats of weeks - got to W9 but could still not do more than 8 minutes running so thought I was a failure and gave up but this time Iā€™m going in with a different mindset (and about 4 stone heavier) and will repeat until I feel comfortable moving on to next week/run

Well done Tigger and welcome back to C25K! Take it slow, slow and slow, then slow down. Stay well hydrated all the time, not just on run days. And if there are any runs you donā€™t complete, chalk them up as practice runs and redo them next time out on fresh legs! Repeat runs or weeks if you want to but donā€™t forget that if you successfully complete all 3 runs in a week, the plan has prepared you to move on! If when you did it before, you got to week 9 but weā€™re still having to stop after 8 minutes I suspect you hadnā€™t followed the plan closely enough - this time round youā€™re better prepared! Good luck and Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum and well done

on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

You CAN succeed! Now try it without the unsure emoji! ā˜ŗļø

Pleased to hear youā€™ve come back with a different mindset. Iā€™ll be well happy if I can make it to Week 9 regardless!

Donā€™t forgot to congratulate yourself for all the little victories along the way šŸŒŸ Good luck!

You can do this! Iā€™ve still got my spare 4 stone but Iā€™m so much fitter. You can definitely do it...take it slowly, really slowly šŸ‘

Well done starting again with a new mindset Tigger! You've been given lots of excellent advice already, so I'll just say trust yourself and the programme, and you've got this!
