Yay! Well done, deciding to do it is the hardest step..

I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

I'm 48 I started last week, and I too haven't run since school.. I struggled with the runs in wk1, so I'm redoing them, did my 1st repeat run 1 today...

Just remember to start your runs slow, smaller steps, there's absolutely no rush, and you can redo runs.

But I've absolutely got the running bug!

Please let us all know how you get on, we'll all support each with encouragement..

Good luck.

Lizzie

Hi, Good luck, a couple of tips for you. If you are serious about this get your gait analysed and buy some decent shoes. Second is read all you can in these pages about running, ney jogging very slowly. You are starting a journey that is designed to build you up to running, you won't get far if you start by trying to win races, trust me I am still making my life too hard by going to quickly. Both these subjects appear in my previous posts. Once again good luck, get out there and enjoy the process.

Thanks for the reply, i used to do a lot of cycling, 20 years ago i could do 150 miles on a sunday, family life, work, bike found its way into the shed, feel running will benefit me more in getting fit, will use the bike at weekends with my son.

Welcome! You’ll enjoy the journey, I’m sure! Lots of new experiences in exploring your new running legs!

As others have said, take it slow (google Japanese slow running) and enjoy!

Good luck to you ( and #Little_lizzie), I was 50 when I started, having never ran since school and having told myself for years I can’t run. I quickly found I liked C25K and felt a lot fitter for doing it. I’ve now been running for almost year since finishing and now average three 5k runs a week, which I still find amazing. So good luck.

Hello, welcome to the program and to this forum, you can get s lot of advice and support on here !

Just a few suggestions

Read the guide for the program, do the dynamic warm up excercises and the after run stretches , always have at least one day off between runs , drink lots o of water 2.5 to 3 litres a day (even on non Running days ) and keep all the runs slow enough so you could speak full sentences while running without gasping for breath.

Oh, and enjoy it !

Trust the program, IT WORKS ! 😬

Keep coming here asking questions and you will get a lot of advice and support .

Just keep going out now doing the runs ! 😬👍

51 here. Never ran except for short bursts. I couldn't run for toffee anyway -- my flat-footedness meant my legs went everywhere.

I started C25k this March, got sick. Started again in April, but stopped when I realised it was the medication I was on that was making me sick when I exercised. Finished that medication and started again at the end of June.

I've plodded on and should be doing the last run of week 8 tomorrow morning. I'm feeling a lot fitter and today used a hole on my trouser belt which hadn't seen use before.

Well done Redonje it’s a great programme with lots of friendly encouragement and support to be found on here, make this your go to place after each run. Don’t set off to quickly on the running parts, it’s important to pace yourself and keep enough in the tank to get you through....also get a good playlist, I use The Rock Story, music from the Rocky movies 🏃‍♂️🥊 I look forward to hearing how you get on 👍

Well done. I am not quite 60 not run since school and my first day out I struggled with 5 x 1 min runs! Tomorrow is the last run of week 8! Although I have struggled this week and redid my previous two runs, I know I can do it now and the end is in sight. Enjoy your runs but don't beat yourself up if you struggle on some just refocus and try again 😁

Very best of luck! 54 years young here, I started in February, I can now run comfortably for 50 minutes. So you're in the right place, this programme is for you! Congratulations on deciding to do it. I can honestly say it's massively changed my life for the better. It's a wonderful journey - sometimes it's hard, sometimes you get the most incredible highs from your achievements. Savour every moment and do come on here because the support is brilliant

I’m new too. Good luck!

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Loads of support, advice and encouragement here. Keep posting your runs as it is a great way to keep a track of your progress and to keep up your motivation too.

Three simple pieces of advice....

1) The Plan - stick to it! Don't deviate and always take at least one rest day between runs.

2) Run slow Learn to embrace your inner snail, as a snail's 5k is just as far as a hare's.

3) Hydrate and stretch Drink 2-3 litres of fluids on both run and rest days and always stretch after your run.

Happy running 😊🏃‍♀️

Week 1 was honestly one of the hardest for me. I couldn’t even run the 30 sec. I’m on week 5 now and I can run for 5 min, and it’s not even that hard! You can do it!

Well done on starting!

From February I was briskly walking 2 miles, 3-4 days per week.

When I retired at 65 2 weeks ago, I decided to up the ante and start C25k.

Just completed W2R3 this morning and feel pretty good!

Honestly go SLOW...you’ll get there! 🐌🐌🐌
