Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

If you are struggling, you are going too fast........ slow down.

Enjoy your journey.

I’m just about to do the same run as you... I run at a pace barely faster than walking and I find I can manage that... towards the end of the time I find I can push myself a bit harder (just a very little faster) I am running on a treadmill at the moment though so it’s quite easy for me to monitor my pace. But as others have said I would just slow down if you’re struggling x

Thank you, im also using the treadmill at the min, not quite ready for the outside world 😅 everyone is saying the same so il try slowing down for my next run

No me neither! I did do the C25K a couple of years ago when I was two stone lighter than I am now and I thought I was brave then! Not brave at the moment to be going out into the world!! Yeah, I read a lot of posts that said slow down and take it easy. So, I have done and it feels much better being able to push myself if I'm finding it easier than to just feel like it's far too hard., Hope your next run feels better x

In what way are you struggling?

Is it mental or physical?

"not working hard enough?" - the idea that you have 'work hard' is wrong. The slower you go, the better and the easier you'll find it. Very simple!

You'll need to 'work' mentally - by simply sticking with it and having determination and application to the completing the session.

thank you! I think I expected miracles and that I would be able to keep up the pace already. I will slow down and not push myself as much :)

I see you're using a treadmill - this is the perfect way to C25K in my opinion - did the whole thing on a treadmill myself 5 years ago. It's so much easier to control the pace that way.

Remember to keep all the walking bits 'brisk' - so as fast as you can manage , and then the 'running' bits should actually be nice and easy JOGS - so just a bit faster than your brisk walk pace.

Forget the idea of 'RUNNING' - whatever that looks like in your head. You'll have a a great experience if you slow right down and JOG - seriously. It's not meant to be like a gym workout where you're 'working really hard' and end up exhausted - no, no no! You should finish feeling like you could carry on. Running is hard on the body and if you've not done it since school, then your body needs time to adapt.

Easy does it, tiger.

Defo slow down!

I completed W2R2 yesterday. My “running” pace is possibly slower than my brisk walking pace 😳

Before I started C25k I was doing a 2 mile brisk walk most days and logging them on Strava and MMW. My times varied from 34-36 minutes.

I’m continuing to log C25k as walks over the same distance. My “running” day times are just over 33 minutes, my resting/walking day times have settled at around 36 minutes.

Look at “slow running”

Hope this helps

thank you! I've never ran before so I just assumed the running part would be an actual run, I shall slow down and gradually build myself up :)

Hi Pace yourself it’s not a race unless you are being chased by bandits in which case run..... if you keep a steady pace the programme works and you can repeat. I repeated weeks as I went but graduated and continue to run. My top speed is glacial but it’s still quicker than couch 🤗
