Hi all

Just tipping way here after graduation, still going for 3 runs a week,

2 x 33 minutes (stepped up the advised10%) and 1 making sure we do 5km,

so trying to keep going. So going to get some new runners and remember reading somewhere that you should get 1 size bigger, is this true?

Well done on your runs🙂 New shoes = commitment!

Yes, what you've heard about shoes is true - up to a point! Certainly, our feet swell as we run - especially in the heat or once you build up distance. The size you need very much depends on the fitting of the running shoe however - I have typically gone up half a size in most of my running shoes, although with my new trail shoes (which arrived today - very exciting! 🤗) I had to go up a full size.

You could also go along to a local running shop and ask for a gait analysis. This is where they look at your pronation and running style and will let you know what type of running shoe will suit you best.

Good luck..and we do like to see photos of new running shoes on here!😉🙂

Thanks for the tips. Shoe shopping is always tricky cos my feet are wide at the toes

This post about running shoes may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5... as may this post about the 10% rule which I don't think you have quite grasped healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Thanks for the info. Golly maths isn't my strong point so is it sufficient to just keep

adding extra time rather than distance? We are likely to cover more miles if we keep adding time every few weeks as we get comfortable with doing a bit more?

Time or distance but no more than 10% of your total weekly time or distance.
