Yes, I’m still there folks. W8 R1 completed yesterday. Amazing really. Jogging along nicely at my slightly more than walking pace, nico nico style. And I was really congratulating myself on the home straight when suddenly a blur flew past me at about Mach 6 and disappeared into the distance. Quite put me off my stroke. Almost jogged into a vacuum he displaced so much air!
Dispiriting? Well, it might have been in Weeks 2 or 3 say. But not now. I’m quite happy at my own very gentle pace. As long as I don’t stop. Let’s face it we were all young once. But now I get such a buzz just completing the ever increasing durations of this wonderful programme that I don’t care how slow I jog or how little distance I cover. I know I’m making progress and getting fitter and that’s all that matters. Roll on week 9!

I love your description of you being passed by what we here on C25K call a gazelle, Mach 6, that runner who flew past you was probably running at a sub 25 minute 5K pace whereas you were running at around a 40 minute 5K pace, nevermind, you enjoyed your run.
Congratulations on completing run 1 of week 8, 28 minutes, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 8, not long now until you graduate.
Hahahaha “mach 6” made me laugh!! 😂 There’s a couple of those round where I run, I pretend not to look at them...!
Glad you aren’t too dismayed, your pace is your pace so it’s good to see you are doing what’s best for you!! Well done for making week 8, you’re not far behind me! Onwards and upwards from here! 🥳
I finished week 8 run 2 this morning and was very pleased to find I’d gone faster than on the previous run at my snails pace. My gazelle days are long gone but am determined to finish week 9 and carry on running !
Just done 8 run 3 this evening. I usually go out in the morning when it’s quieter but didn’t get up in time today. Lovely evening so lots of gazelles about but I didn’t care either and jogged along for 28 mins at my slow and steady pace.
I’m with you Maximodad! I’m a very slow runner and am frequently passed by those blurs! But who cares- I’m happy as long as I can keep going! Happy running to you!
I think you and I are similar, and at the same stage of this wizard course. To me, you are a wonderful inspiration, and you keep going right to the end at whatever pace you fancy. I remember that two runs ago I got overtaken by a farm beetle! It beat me to the next tree but it made me laugh out loud!
I'm built like a gazelle, but not yet running like them. I get overtaken all the time.
If I push myself a little, I might just be able to do 5km in 33 mins in ten day's time, based on today's W8R1 pace. I then look at Strava and see tables of people who have done segments in half the time I take. Mach 6 indeed!
What's in their water bottles? Rocket fuel?
Just happy to be putting one foot in front of the other. Ten weeks ago I wasn't even doing that.
