Back in the game!

After completing C25K and getting up to running 5k, I sustained a calcaneous stress fracture. Having rested for about 5 weeks, I went back out yesterday after a couple of trial run /walks.

Who knew I would feel like this about running. I can't believe how much I missed the early morning blasting of tunes in my ears whilst taking in the beautiful constable countryside.

I feel so happy to be out running again but also nervous of injury, so for now, I'll be building my strength and confidence 😊

Keep it nice and slow and steady, especially after an injury and you will soon be back up to speed.

Do you know what caused the fracture?

Paying attention to minimising impact, as described in the guide to the plan, will be beneficial.

I think the cause may have been road running as I trained off road. I did two x 5k in a week which, is OK for some people, but I think it was too much too soon for me. I'm going to keep to 20 mins or until comfortable for a few weeks leaving at least two days instead of one between runs to make sure I do no further damage.

I'll re-read the guide.

Thank you for your support
