How do I speed up?

I did week 9R1 this morning, did the 30 minutes but my phone said I had only run 4.3k so how do I get faster? Feeling really good that I did 30 minutes running though! I’m in no hurry but just need some advice as to what to do! Not bad for a woman of 56 who has never run!

Just keep going as you are, it’s a great pace as it is. Speed will come with the extra miles you put on your legs during and after consolidation. Graduation here you come!

That’s freaking brilliant you know, i think when we got to week 9 we were managing about 2.8 k

Speed comes slowly over time, you just have to keep running and then one day you realise you are a bit faster, but this isn’t a race we all run differently

All I have to add to previous comments is that I wish that I was as fast as you! 😄😂

You don't need to do 5km to graduate; you only have to run for 30 mins three times.

As others have said, your pace will build gradually as you get fitter. Your pace of just under 7min/km is pretty good already.

Thank you, so helpful to have other’s opinions as I have no idea what is reasonable!

It’s so helpful to have other people to ask as I know nothing about running! I’m amazed I have got this far! 😂 Loving it though!

My W9R3 was 3.85km (R1 was 3.2, R3 was 3.4).

So you should be feeling smug :-)

Well done!
