Swollen feet

Hi everyone. I have just made it through R1 W3 (nearly cried on the last run but I've made it) but before I went out I realised that my feet had swollen so much in the heat that I had really squeeze them into my trainers. Has anyone else had the same thing in this heat and has anyone got any tips on how to avoid /reduce the swelling?

Could you go out in the morning instead when it’s this hot?

Unfortunately early morning's aren't always an option for me due to work and childcare. Thank you though :)

A great question. One I don’t have an answer to but something I suffer with too. I run pretty much as soon as I wake up, so they arent that swollen. But they definitely are by the time the run has finished!

my feet and ankles have also swollen with the heat in the evenings. However when running I do find my fingers swell slightly too. I did the Macmillan South Coast Mighty Hike last year (walked 26.2 miles) and my hands and fingers were like balloons by the time I finished. I did read into it and it’s apparently quite common in hikers (something to do with how your body reacts and dispersed water - or a restrictive back pack ☺️). But I was a little surprised to get slightly puffy fingers after running (I’m Wk3R2)

I've had the fingers thing too when out for a long walk when it's hot. Always have to remember to remove my watch and jewellery before I go. Glad it's not just me :)

Hi GardenGnome, I usually have the exact same problem. My feet end up looking like bulging flippers at the end of a hot day. Getting fitter (2 yrs+ C25K graduate) helped slightly but didn't get rid of the problem, which was annoying. However, I have just started taking wheat out of my diet as I've been getting bloated and all through the 30C+ heat these past few days they have been fine. Might be worth a punt if you have wheat in your diet?

Thank you Tailchaser. That's really interesting to hear. Could do with cutting back on the wheat based carbs anyway as need to loose some weight and that will give me an added incentive.
