Curse this hot weather...

I’m feeling a bit in limbo after finishing C25K. I’m in a ‘consolidating space’ until i start 10K plan on 9th July. Mondays 5k run was with a small group led by a professional runner (lady does lots & lots of races), Islabear you’ll know who that was! It was a good run, good route (with hills), time 44mins, but the heat quickly built up. Today i ran at 9am as forecast was for heat increase at 10am. Yes 9am was cooler, but humidity hit so 5K cross country took 42mins. I don’t cope with heat very well and run was well, ok. One thing that has made me more aware of running 5K each time, is that I seriously need to do other type of exercise between runs. Anyone else found this?

I do yoga, swim and aqua fit. Try to do something daily if only a short session.

Only did a short run today a) because of heat b) I wanted to see how far my husband managed to walk yesterday.

Lovely run in Benyons Enclosure around lake

Thanks! Swimming is something I used to do a lot of, so I’ll going more regularly. It’s an odd feeling that my legs are much stronger and cardiovascular fitness is much better. It’s as if the rest of me is saying ‘excuse me but what about the rest of us?!’

I’m doing the park run at Greenham this Saturday.

I swim 3x a week between runs as it’s aerobic, arm work and I can use my legs gently! Swimming is coming along nicely because of the running and vice versa. I take Sunday’s off 😁

Yep, swimming is a good all-round exercise. Today physically was another ‘prod’ 👉 to do other exercise between runs. So I’ll probably do both swimming 🏊‍♀️and yoga 🧘‍♀️and see how my body feels. Mind you this awful heat is not helping either 😞

It’s amazing how much your swimming improves when you run. It used to take me an hour to do 30 laps, now I do that in 30!. All this exercise I would have thought I’d have a body like an athlete by now instead of a slightly slimmer Al Murray pub landlord 🙄

Don’t we all 😂

Ha ha, but you’re a fitter pub landlord!

Am not making 5k yet but have noticed since doing 30 min runs I feel like the rest of me needs strengthening! I planned to do at least 1 HiiT session a week and yoga but just haven't got round to it. Well done with the running 😊

Hi, I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling ‘disjointed’. It’s a really odd feeling isn’t it. Yoga is good for strength I believe as you use your body weight for balance and positioning. So unroll that Yoga Mat 🧘‍♀️

Yup I often do swimming on my rest days. Good muscle exercise without the load bearing . Also cycling is good .
