Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Well done on completing Week 1!

Just take it slow. Think about going slow, and then go slower.

You’ve totally got this! 🌟

Finishing Week 1 is SUCH a massive achievement, well done!

Remember to run slowly. Even if you think you are running slower than a snail, you can run even slower. Have fun, stretch, drink water and enjoy it! :)

Well done for starting - you can do it!

I’m asthmatic and I find taking my reliever 20 minutes before leaving for a run prevents exercise induced symptoms. Perhaps ask your dr if that’s something you could do. Well done on finishing W1 πŸ‘πŸ˜

Well done for starting. That could be my description too. Try taking a puff of your inhaler 20 mins before you go. I find it helps (although could be in my head as have forgotten occasionally πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ). I also try breathing deeply on the warm up walk.

Well done on completing week 1 - that's amazing! Do bear in mind that running is hard on the puff - I don't have asthma but still find the first 5 mins a real puffer until my chest loosens and things settle down. Some folk call it the toxic ten, but for me its 5. Others with asthma are better able to advise but just thought I'd point out that everybody finds the first few mins hard going.

Agree with the go slow advice - google Japanese slow running - its a game changer!!!

Im not asthmatic but I found by far the hardest part of starting the first few weeks was breathing! Just realise that it does get easier, and while I massively struggled to begin with, running for a minute, I completed the program and was able to breathe and run for 30 minutes, which I thought was physically impossible!!! πŸ˜ƒ. Like everyone says, the secret is to stay slow. Good luck πŸ˜ƒ

Well done on starting. That’s one hurdle over πŸ– I’m on my 3rd week 1 πŸ˜¬πŸ˜† Determined to make it to week 2 next week πŸ’ͺπŸ‘Š my own fault as I kept putting the next run off but no more putting them off for me. I’m doing this πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Brilliant that you've started, well done. Definitely keep it slow especially in this heat. Try to go early morning or early evening, so much easier to breath!! Keep going, it really works 😊

I think the stop start time was hard. May not seem like it now but when you do longer runs you find a rhythm and it's easier somehow. Keep going 😁
