Just started today & unfortunately I didn't even complete the 1st run of week 1. I did however complete 1 hour plus of walking beforehand and I'm recovering from the worst flu I've ever had. So I won't be discouraged. Tomorrow is another day!

Tomorrow is indeed another day and I really hope that you will treat it as a rest day as you have earned it. A good walk and a practice run for your first day deserves to be treated with respect, especially after a bout of flu.

Try the next one on Thursday or Friday and just do the 5 minute warm up walk. This will give you a better chance of completing your run. Walk on for an hour after if you feel like it but probably not before.

But welcome to the forum and keep us up to date with your progress which will, I am sure be dramatic.

Hi Sheps.

Thank you for the reply.

I usually take the 10 minute or so walk to this large green where football is played & others exercise too in peace.

I did my walk & then remembered that I had downloaded the couch to 5k on my phone and so decided to give it a try.

Knew I wouldn't get very far but I'm glad I tried anyway.

I always see others running around this field & I feel alittle envious of them, especially as I'm only ever power walking.

I used to be soo fit in my younger days that it's quite upsetting that I can't do a fraction of what I used to without even huffing, puffing or breaking a sweat.

I appreciate your words of encouragement though & I will try again on Thursday. (Before my walking session this time). ☺

Well done on your run!

I have just done my first run of week 1 on the app, felt a bit silly as other people were out running properly! But I'm sure we will get there.

Good luck!

Hello there.

Congratulations to you too on your 1st run.

Lol. I thought I was the only one who felt silly doing it.

We indeed will get there. The hardest move has been made and so I wish us all well.

The hardest part is actually getting off the sofa and getting out there and you've passed that with flying colours.

Don't be disheartened by the first run just put it down as a practice run and embrace run 2 and enjoy!!

Hi there.

You're right. The hardest part is actually deciding and making that move. That we have accomplished with flying colours.

Funny enough I actually enjoy going out there for my daily walk and hopefully now my regular run.

I'm sure as time passes I'll improve and I'll be running soon like the others who share the field with me.

Thank you for your words of encouragement!

Welcome Donna. You have a great attitude, you'll be a great runner. Keep the running bits slow and keep plugging away. Happy running (and walking!!)

Thank you.

I'm trying to be positive. Well the pics of how slim and fit I used to be are motivation enough. Lol.

But seriously, I would just like to improve my fitness as I'm 38 now and as you know, once we reach this time of life, getting out there becomes alittle harder.

So if I start now I hope to be able to fly through my middle aged years with flying colours.

Thank you for your words.

Just rest up, until you feel fit again... the runs will still be there...

in reply to Oldfloss

Hiya...

You're right, I'm not 100% my old self as yet due to the flu but I must admit that the little exercise did make me feel alot better today.

I lost a one week of progress due to being sick but I will continue my walks just as before and maybe try another run session towards the end of the week when I'm feeling alot stronger.

Thanks for taking the time to send me your thoughts.
