Hi- I'm an overweight middle aged woman - I was at a low point in fitness and a high point in weight at the start of lockdown and I completed week 9 on 28th June- 30 minutes of something resembling running and nowhere near 5K π - I've just found healthunlocked - have been trying to consolidate by doing 30 minute runs and not sure how to proceed.
On Saturday when it was scorchio I set off on a run too late in the morning and it's the first time I have given up and walked.... I was very disappointed. Today I went out to do 30 minutes and felt much better- I ran my first 5K ππ I'm so pleased! It took 40 minutes but it's a start- the good days are fantastic and worth enduring the less successful days. I'm really pleased to have found this community to share my C25K experiences with,,,,π

Welcome and congratulations on completing C25K! This is a brilliant forum, really supportive π good luck with the rest of your consolidation ππββοΈ
Hi Beatlesforever- it's been a really good day for me - think my legs will be glad of a rest day tomorrow- I need to work out a plan for moving forward π€ πββοΈππ sleep first π΄
Yay, these are the days and feelings we need to remember on the tough days πͺπ if you're ready to move forward, there are C25K+ podcasts to help with stamina and speed. Some people swear by them. I've started JuJu's magic plan on the bridge to 10k forum , it's one of the pinned posts. It works on time or distance (60min or 10k). I'm really enjoying it and it's brought back my running mojo. Good luck with your next challenge, looking forward to reading more of your posts ππββοΈ
Welcome- you have found a wonderful, friendly, encouraging forum. ( I joined it by mistake, having got into a technological tangle, β best mistake of my life!) Your running is fantastic! Very well done. πππ» I too have learned to avoid running when itβs hot - I just donβt tolerate it at all. You are faster than me & there is nothing wrong with a steady pace - enjoying your running and reaping the benefits, regardless of speed, is great. π
If you scroll down to the pinned posts you will see there is an August consolidation club which might be helpful place to post and read. - You could also ask for your graduation badge & wear it with pride! (Again see the pinned posts).
Littleoyellow does have the badge and the word GRADUATE π next to her username, congratulations also to her for running her first 5K.π π ππΎ π
Hi AI and many thanks for your congrats π I got straight on the case after Elfe5's advice and got my badge! What a great day I've had- I can't remember when I last felt I'd achieved so much! If anyone is reading this who is still on their C25K journey- dig in and you'll be having this brilliant feeling before you know it π
Yes many runners, dare I say it, ladies when they complete run 3 of week 9 act very strangely at that very moment, I am not sure what your reaction was at the 30 minutes mark on completing run 3 of week 9 πππΎπ
Hi, I did my first 5k this morning (at a stately 43mins) and still buzzing. The support and advice is great on here although it can get quite addictive!!
Well done you!! You have done brilliantly, I did W4R2 today and completed it but really struggled and I am a very slow jogger being 62 with health issues however posts like yours always help me to carry on, I will be thrilled to ever get to the stage of running for 20 mins non stop. πββοΈπββοΈπ
Glad to have encouraged you Shawny60 and thank you for your kind thoughts - just take each run at a time and give yourself a pat on the back each time. Some run days it feels daunting and most run days it feels tough while running, but that feeling of achievement is priceless- you can do it!!!
Hi guys- thank you for your posts- I feel very welcomed and quite emotional π Magentabob enjoy the feeling of that first 5K- I myself am feeling pretty EPIC! Just need to figure out what a pinned post is now.... ππ
Hi Littleoyellow - welcome to the forum and very glad you have found us!π
Just wondered if you have seen this pinned post (link below) about running post Couch to 5K. It is full of lots of useful tips and advice and may help you as you continue on your running journey! π
Hi Sandraj and many thanks for the helpful link which I will save until tomorrow to check out π I need to calm down after my big day now and get some sleep so that I'm raring to go for my next 5k on Thursday! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ so much to learn π
Hi Elfe5 π Highlight and copy the website URL (address) from the address bar of your chosen link (I always open the website on a separate tab) and then copy it into your post. It will look very long but gets abbreviated and posted in blue once the post goes up! You will also get a pop up box to confirm you wish to proceed, when you post.
