Ooh ahh new running shoes πŸ˜ƒ

I graduated C25K August 2019. My goal/dream was to be able to regularly run 5k three times a week but after embarking on the programme and then the consolidation runs, I will admit that I thought this was unlikely to happen. Because despite good run days there are bad run days. And there have been many good weather run days but also the bad weather, dark mornings and cold run days. Or indeed no run days at all for weeks for one spell. I did not graduate and then fly through consolidation stage or immediately make plans for 10k and find myself looking for events to enter. No my journey has been slow and steady. I truly believe that the secret to falling in love with running is to do it your way. Yes you need to push yourself sometimes to maybe just get out the door/enter that first park run/try a new route with HILLS etc but by doing it when you are ready mentally and physically and by accepting it’s not always going to be a good run day, will pay huge dividends and help ensure you do not give up but learn to love running. Some may say 11 months is along time before needing to replace your trainers (do you even run at all?!) - for me it is now that time and I am still amazed and delighted that I have worn out the first pair. So to all newbies and plodders, keep going and do it your way! (with the aid of excellent advice and encouragement from this forum). Sloth x

Thank you birdlady 64! We almost booked to go to Costa Rica to see the sloths and other amazing wildlife but Covid put a stop to that. One day!
