I'm afraid to say that I am going to hang up my running shoes and give up running. I haven't been posting as many posts but have been running regular.
I had a small fall about a month ago. I went back out and I was fine.
Then on Monday morning I went out and ended up in A and E and had to have my nose and top lip repaired by the maxillofacial surgeons . Monday night I didn't get any sleep because I was to scared to close my eyes.
I feel a bit better today but I'm still 100 percent sure that running isn't for everyone.
I want to thank you all for your support during my time here . You are all so lovely and caring. I wish you all happy running. Stay safe love Deb's XXX

I'm stumped for words debs, I graduated just this morning so this is a hard read tonight. I feel for you so much but understand why you feel like you do.
Hopefully you will keep getting out there and enjoy some long and beautiful walks, keeping fit & feeling better and more confident.
Take really good care and never say never to a possible return if or when you feel it's right.
Please don't be put off . I loved running. At the moment I am just scared. You will be fine. Just keep enjoying your journey.thank you for your kind words xx
So sorry to hear about your accident, Debs. We’ll miss you ! Hope you get well really soon and find an exercise plan that helps instead of breaking you ! Have fun, whatever you end up doing x
Sorry about that Deborahchick46, perhaps as you are no longer running you could take of cycling in addition to walking, swimming and eating cakes, I have cycled since age 7 but only took up running with C25K 5 weeks before I was 72 and graduated just over 3 weeks after I was 72, I still enjoy cycling.
Debs have you thought about a running machine? I fell too and lost my confidence- I got a running machine and started up again- I miss being outside but still get to run.
Sorry to read this. I don't know what I'd do if I had to give up running after finding it has helped me in so many ways. Can't you run somewhere that the ground is soft?
I’m sorry to hear about your fall. Especially as you hurt yourself in that way. I too had a fall recently and I know that feeling as you are flying through the air wondering how this is going to end up. I ended up gouging my forearm on a sharp stone and being taken to minor injuries clinic. 3 weeks later it is still being dressed by my GP practice. So I understand the pain and the dread, and being hurt on the face is much worse.
In my instance I know exactly what caused the trip but if you don’t know what made you fall it is more worrying.
I am back running again now and in time you may feel more confident to get back out there again . But if not, I wish you all the best and hope that you will continue the good work you have started by doing an activity that gives you pleasure and keeps you fit.🤕
Oh dear that’s a shame. I hope you heal up fine. I think I you will but it is a shock 😟
However,,you could change your mind and running is always there for you😃
I’ve had one bad fall where my face took the brunt and took months of dentists visits I had another one recently and ended in Casualty with hand injuries. I was spooked by it for a week or so. Having thought about it though I could fall Any time, anywhere, any how 🤷♀️ I love doing it and have decided the negatives outweighs the positives 🙂
Oh dear .. can understand the fear of falling totally ! Please don’t give up the exercise though , I think that you will miss it. There are other ways to remain fit and running machine or a gym membership ( if you can afford either) is a good idea? Or run only with someone else for a bit? Just to get your confidence back?
Ouch! I'm so sorry you fell and hurt yourself, sounds really scary. I'm always terrified of tripping when I go downstairs; nobody seems to understand why I come down them so gingerly hanging on to the handrails.
I empathise with your decision completely, but it is such a pity to have to give up something you love. I hope you regain your confidence - maybe in the Spring with the better weather? In any event, I hope you feel better soon, and any bumps and bruises heal themselves quickly.
I'm so sorry to read this. I'm sure the worry and fear of it all was awful. I hope you make a speedy recovery and find something else you can replace running with.
I personally really enjoy yoga (I'm no expert) also spinning or cycling might be something you can enjoy.
Feel better, rest and relax. You're making the right decision for yourself 😊
