Ok I have your attention about the cheating and I didn't really cheat other than on Michael Johnson. Well that's not strictly true but I have to confess that yesterday was the first time I didn't use the couch to 5k app. The reason was to see if I could do it without and in honesty I did. It felt strange at first but because I roughly know my pace I wasn't really phased and by the end, the app and the encouragement was a distant memory (although I could still hear him).
The question then is how many of you still use the app and if you don't, do you miss it? Also what makes you decide whether to continue with it after graduation or not use it anymore.
Fyi, the run was good and ok I didn't have the brutal hill of the previous day and I managed the 6km in just over 32 minutes and I still had a little bit in the tank.

Hi. I really missed Laura on my first consolidation run so went back to the app on my second. Then I found that I ignored her for most of the way as I know my miles stones and used that and my playlist to judge my progress and pace. Since then, and I’m only on C Run 5 😂, I haven’t gone back to the app and haven’t missed it really. I’m trying to extend my distance to 5k so that has been my focus. I couldn’t do without my music though!
I agree with knowing the milestones and I have set the mapmyrun to tell me after every km but like you I couldn't do without the music although the other day my music stopped. It was hard just listening to breathing and the pounding of my feet.
I don’t use the app at all, I found that once I knew I could do 30 minutes for that week I didn’t feel like I needed that support anymore, because realistically if I wanted to improve or cut down my times it would be purely on me and my self motivation, so that was my reasoning behind it. Some people need that little push for the first few weeks as they aren’t quite sure or they just need that motivation for a while. Guess it’s whatever works for the individual. Well done, 6KM in 32 minutes is phenomenal!
I think speed is all relative and besides there was no brutal hill this time around. As far as the app goes I may stop using it from now on as I don't really need it but I will have the music to listen to.
I sometimes use the 5k+ podcasts but otherwise I just set a goal on my watch it vibrates every k and halfway through the run and I can listen to a book or my music 😍
