Struggled Today and in a bit of pain 😢😢

I haven’t posted on here since I graduated 2 weeks ago. I have been doing my consolidation runs 3 times a week, still running as slow as a tortoise 🐢 but still doing the 30 minutes, a couple of times I did more than 30 minutes. Still not hit the 5K yet but getting there slowly!!

Today I went out determined to do my run and aim to go a bit further than 30 minutes to get closer to the 5K. I started off well and was enjoying my run (no gremlins on my shoulder)!! But then after about the 20 minute mark I felt very fatigued and my mouth was very dry, I just wanted to stop, but I kept on going and really slowed down to complete the 30 minutes. The pain in the back of my right thigh was back again, it was more prominent today. I usually wear a knee support sleeve on my right knee but i don't know whether that is causing the pain or not!!! When I got home I did my usual stretches but held them for a bit longer. Pain has subsided a little as the day has gone on. Decided to call the Dr to have a phone consultation (they are not physically seeing patients at the moment). The first appointment I can get to speak to a Dr is Tuesday 4th August!!!!!

So my dilemma is whether I just continue with my usual runs, I usually have a days rest in between run days, usually run Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Or have 2 days rest in between my runs until I get to speak with the Dr. I really do not want to stop after coming this far!!!!

Any advice/sympathy would be gratefully appreciated, thank you 😊😊.

I don't think that you should run until that phone consultation with your doctor on 4th August, nothing worse than running when you have a injury, hope it won't be long before you can get back to running, your doctor will give you professional advice on the phone.

Thank you AIMorr. I managed to call them again this morning and the Dr is going to give me a call sometime this morning, so hopefully I will be able to find out what is going on and get some help.

Hi Jacqui. Don't despair you're doing great. You've graduated and you're still running. The c25k is brilliantly designed to reduce risk of fatigue and injury. Unfortunately after graduation we all want to run faster and further and quite often that leads to muscle and/or other injuries. If the soreness goes away after a couple of days you could test it with a very gentle short run. Say 2 or 3k. The most important thing is to get the injury sorted and repaired. Perhaps you could try and see a sports physio who can probably diagnose better than a video doc! They will also give you good advice on how to proceed. Once you get fitt, build up slowly. Keep it slow and don't run too far. Good luck

Thank you very much steviej99 for the good advice. I have managed to call the Dr's surgery this morning and a Dr is going to give me a call today. I will see what they say and take it from there. Good idea about seeing a sports physio, I will also look into that.
