Our running coaches talk through pushing out your stomach as you breathe to reduce the chance of getting a stitch. I got confused and had to look up " Belly breathing" before I understood.
My inner ego, Enid, took this very seriously and we possibly sounded like a steam trainπ as we ran today. But we didn't get a stitch.ππ»ββοΈπ€Έπ»ββοΈ
We ran for 16 minutes altogether. Yahoo!

Thanks, dijep. Yes It was confusing. I thought it was stomach out as you breathe in. π€ I read about an exercise lying on the floor with a book on your stomach.π It really helps empty the lungs. π
Good to try put breathing techniques. My daughter completed cto5k about a year ago but said she was feeling a bit panicky and stressed while running. She changed to the belly breathing recently and says it has transformed her running so she feels calm and relaxed.
So a bit of practice is probably worth it. Tell Enid not to worry, she will be having lovely long, chilled out runs soon!
Thank you again for your support, Roxdog. Good to hear that your daughter got on so well using Belly breathing. It isn't a technique that I investigate last time so I am glad to experiment this time through the programme.
Enid is happy for the short runs at the moment...still dragging my little twin out there. ("It would be so much nicer just to sit in the shade in the garden. "π)
