Feel like giving up!

Help! I am on wk7 run2 but can’t do it. Went out yesterday and didn’t even have more than 10 mins in me. Big fat fail. I was taking it slow so not sure what went wrong. Now too scared to go tomorrow. Silly I know but couldn’t handle it if I don’t manage it. Keep telling myself to take a break from it but then will I go back? I really struggled, when I got home took me 20 mins plus to recover, couldn’t catch my breathe and even ended up sitting in the shower 🙈. Run or not run in the morning. I usually go 6.30 ish as soon as I’ve had cuppa but yesterday didn’t go until later in the day. Help/advice please lovely people.

It sounds like your having a tough time! Did you manage your week 6 runs ok?

They were tough but managed them. I don’t think Sarah helps telling you when only 5 mins in. 😩

I’m sure there’s a post somewhere in the forum about the first ten minutes being the hardest. Hopefully someone can point you in the direction of it. Some runs are harder than others, keep going and you can do it 😀.

Be great to read that, defo find first 10 mins hardest. Thanks

It’s called the toxic 10 .. I think the post is called that too... ( some days I feel like I’m having a toxic 20 🙈🤣) .. made sense when I read it..

I’m not a natural runner but I’m giving it my best👍🏃🏽‍♀️

Yesterday was very humid. That can massively affect your runs especially if you're used to running early. I was way off my pace and stopped before my planned finish as it just wasn't happening. That was mid morning.

Are you sure you was slow enough? At this stage, if you can run slower, do so. You've made it through week 6, you can definitely do week 7.

Thanks, good to know wasn’t only me. I’ll see what time I wake up and give it a go. Going to be Friday now as got friend electrician over early.

You've done soo well to get through to week 7 (that's where I am too and amazed to be joining you at this point!). Don't give up - not when you've come so far! I'm a newby and so haven't got much advice like the lovely people on here except to be proud of what you have achieved. You've done 25 mins twice already so can do it! Must admit I do wish there was a bit more 'talking' through the app but that's just me needing to hear someone encouraging me all the time.

Music helps massively 🎧 🎵 make a playlist of your favourite songs..! Works for me 👍 😀

I was wondering about playing one of the NRC guided run podcasts - the coaches seem to be constantly talking you through but wonder if this might confuse (easily done ;-))

Well done to you on getting this far. I feel like I’m so with you on this, I did W7 R1 yesterday mid afternoon and it was my hardest run to date. I usually go out in the mornings but due to one thing or another I went out later- it was so warm which I think didn’t help, I really struggled and was gasping for breath at the end and my legs felt like jelly. I completed the run but I’m not looking forward to tomorrow’s run at all. My advice to you is to stick to the morning run, I’m going to take this advice for myself too, I think we all initially run at a certain time of day and that’s the time that feels the best for us. Stick to that and if you’ve got this far then you know you can achieve week 7 and beyond!!

I can hear how demotivated you feel. As the others have said, you've come a long way already.

I won't see it as a fail - on the contrary, you listened to your body and did the sensible thing by stopping. Sounds like it just wasn't the right time for you. If it were me, I'd be tempted to have at least one rest day, before you try again. I did that run last night, and although I've done 25 mins before I found it tough. I agree, when you hear you've only done 5 minutes, its mentally heard.

Don't be too hard on yourself, you can do this, and we're all here to support you. Take a rest day. . . . And try again 😊

Thanks everyone, feel much better. Will try again Friday and nail it!! If I’m struggling I’ll go as slow as poss. Everyone seems to have felt that same pain so got to work through it. 😊

We’re doing a run on Friday - some of us are graduating but you don’t have to ... would just be fab if you can join us!

MccHa is Singapore - it’s 4pm his time but I’m running (and some others too, getting quite a little running gang) are UK 9am 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️👏👏

More the merrier 👍

Listen to your body, If this exhausted feeling is something you’ve not experienced before whilst doing this programme, see how you feel in the morning. Maybe you’ve picked up a bug (scary thing to say i know in this current climate) but I experienced the same thing early on in the programme, I was exhausted and my temperature was through the roof. Laid me low for week or two but felt ok then and continued to graduation fine. Hope you feel ok, but be sensible 👍

Nope!... no No NO!

No such thing as big fat ... or even little skinny F*** (sorry but I just can’t allow myself to even type that word!)

You’re doing bloody amazing!!!

You’re on W7r2!!

No run tomorrow- you’ve only just run today!

You need minimum 1 rest day...

seriously tho - read some of my runs... I couldn’t run for more than 20 seconds week 1!... I thought 1 minute sounded so easy - well it is easy when I’m sat on the couch 🤣

I was so gobsmacked..

This is a challenge!.. but nothing worthwhile comes easy ..

week 7 is more than half way!.. that’s brilliant! 👏👏

Be kind to yourself!.. you WILL get there.. I know this! This plan is magical and won’t fail you...

But remember .. rest days! 👏👏

Can’t wait to read your post run post 👍

You already do believe if you’re anything like me..

run 1 I was so bad I shocked myself..

the magic happens becos if I can get to week 9 after being like that then anybody can! I promise!

Find your new inner slow.. I was slow but then I was advised to go even slower ... and I did!

You got this!... and we got you! 👏👏👏

Well.... it’s taken me over a week but finally got out there and did it. I couldn’t get past the terrified stage and turns out had another small clot in lung hence pain. Gave it a go this morning thinking if it’s too much I would walk but done it. Slowly but done it. 😊. Chuffed. One more run for week 7 to do. Thanks everyone, reading about toxic 10 helped.
