What a nightmare!!! Let me set the scene, all weekend we've had issues with the downstairs power keep tripping out, it started Friday lunchtime.

We had some electricians come out and have a look and they thought they'd fixed it, less than 2 hours later it tripped out again!

I rigged up a temporary solution to give us internet and Sky over the weekend.

Anyway, back to today, the treadmill is on the downstairs power and with not knowing if it would trip out after 5 minutes, 5 seconds or an hour or two I decided I'd head down the canal.

I left home and realised I'd left my Aftershokz on my desk, so had to go back for them, once I'd got them I headed down to the canal again.

Attempt no. 1 - I set off way too quickly, if I could have maintained that pace I would have done 5k in about 22-23 minutes, IF I could have maintained that pace. So I stopped and reset the run.

Attempt no. 2 - Again, I set off too quick, not as fast as the first time but still too quick, reset again.

Attempt no. 3 - I was getting cheesed off with myself by now and I don't think I'd left enough time to allow my heart rate to come down and even though the pace was about right my heart rate was sky high. Reset and wait a couple of minutes.

Attempt no. 4 - 28 minutes in the bag, I gave myself a stern talking to and set of as slowly as I could.

There was one issue, purely user error, I'd not started the run on the Garmin so nothing is recorded on that which is really doing my head in, yes it's got the heart rate but none of the run statistics are recorded.

I'm hoping the electricians can get back out later today and resolve the issue with the electrics as it's annoying plus there's no dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, hot water or heating.

We do have a shower which I use more than the bath anyway.

Happy running everyone.

Sounds like you had a difficult start to the run, but well done for sticking with it. I’ve had a few runs where I’ve forgotten things, or my headphones stop connecting so I have to go back to my house etc. The place you run is absolutely beautiful by the way! 😊

That is the first part, walking to the bridge and back is essentially the 5 minute warm up walk, the run part is behind me at that point, next time I'm down there I'll get a couple of pics of some other parts.

Oh gosh... hope it all gets sorted my friend:) That looks like a really great place to run and more enjoyable than the treadmill? Go you.. :)

Hi Floss, it is a great place, except for the cyclists, I'm a slow runner today so I can moan about the cyclists :).

Most of them are polite, sounding their bells if approaching you from behind and nearly all speak, it's the ones that seem to think that riding 2 abreast is acceptable on a path that is wide enough for two people to pass each other.

My eldest daughter and I rode along there last Tuesday as part of the Trans-Pennine loop of Chesterfield, we kept in single file and always made sure that runners and walkers had priority.

Running on the treadmill is ok, I can switch my head off and just plod along.

I'm sure the electrics will get sorted, the house was fully re-wired when we bought it but that was 15-16 years ago, it's weird how it is so random.

Always a few who seem to think that making it tricky is acceptable...with me, it is one dog walker if I run a tad later.., he crosses from one side to the side I am on, so I have to cross over to their side... weird!

You did it though and you are getting that cycling in as well :)

So annoying when you have false starts like that - happened a few times to me. Well done for trying a 4th time - great stickability!

Hope white goods are all operational again now and glad it didn’t put you off starting W8 altogether
