I hope you're all enjoying this wonderful cool weather for your runs!! I really wanted to share something with you, as it made a massive difference for me yesterday.
I'd become a little bit disheartened - newly graduated, and stuck in a bit of a rut. I cant run 5k in 30 minutes (yet), and just kept clocking the same pace every time. Tried a new route and it didn't go well either. Someone remarked when I was jogging that I run really slow, so I tried to speed up which made it even worse.
On the verge of giving up, I did two things. I did a short run just to make myself feel good with a better pace. Then yesterday I did the opposite - I slowed right down, stayed comfortable but found I could just keep going! So I did. 5.3k and I even sprinted at the end. Honestly, I think I could have gone longer.
So it looks like I'll be using a different strategy from now on, and just let the pace pick up!!

That's great! Taking the pressure off yourself and trying something new has made all the difference. Well done on your first 5k (plus) ๐!
That is brilliant advice! I always feel like a snail would run faster than me and can't ever see me reaching the 5k in 30 mins. I sometimes feel embarrassed at how slow I run and what people must think when they see me! I love your advice and when I start my consolidation runs I may try that. Well done on your amazing achievements x
Thank you JessPix . Honestly, I've never seen anyone jogging and commented on how slow they are. I think I was just unfortunate. It was such a boost to get some distance clocked, with the shorter run to remind me I can pick up the pace Keep going, and I promise you will achieve runs you never thought you could. I couldn't even make it up the stairs when I started lol!!
